 He coached attitude, and he coached being a positive person twice as much as he coached football. And that's something I've taken with me my entire life. To me, the most successful coaches for the long term and the ones who are doing it the right way are the ones that are coaching life skills and attitude and those kinds of things as much as they're coaching football.

 I'm going to be coaching the best team I've ever coached, bar none.

 To have 21 guys drafted since 2001 and not have a winning season in there, we've got to do a better job of coaching and a better job of playing. Notice I said coaching first. I'll put the heat on our coaching staff. A big part of coaching is discipline. A big part of coaching is getting them to buy into what you're doing. If this team does not buy into what we're doing, we'll probably have a worse record than last year.

 I've coached some real good players -- he's the best player I ever coached. He's classy as they come, as humble as they come. This guy just makes people around him better, and that's the key to having a successful team. He's the easiest person I've ever coached.

 The one thing that really caught my attention about Dwayne and Nick was their calmness. Whenever I am around coached as calm as them I feel comfortable. I end up responding better to their coaching and I play much better tennis. The players on the team are amazing. They have such a good connection with each other. They are friends on and off the court. The team is real easy to be around and get along with.

 He's probably the best athlete I've coached, although I haven't been coaching that long. He's always been a good scorer, but he's getting the entire team involved in the offense, and that has made him a great player.  We had so many walks. I haven't seen that many walks since I coached a grade school team when I started coaching.

 Everybody's back that we thought, and that's great because we had a great season last year. Of all my time coaching track and field, this is the most athletic team I've coached. They're stronger, faster and more coordinated.

 This is probably the most athletic team I've ever coached. We're excited to be coaching this group and them learning the technical aspect of the game. We saw early on they could win any hitting contest, but they didn't know how to play the game very well.

 It is a great experience. The two teams I coached on the men's side were some of the most exciting moments in my coaching life. Obviously winning NBA Championships and CBA Championships and being in the WNBA Finals are all highlights. But playing and coaching for your country in a gold medal game is pretty intense.

 Offensive linemen are the guys on the team who are the most selfless, ... Those are the types of guys who make great coaches. Miles came out of that environment -- extremely well coached, well disciplined. When you're coaching, you look for that kind of guy.

 I think the schools themselves, Cass and King, put more emphasis on it. To me it is a good game against a well-coached team who is going to come after you. You're highly motivated but it does not make me go into overdrive to coach. It does not compare to coaching in the Michigan high school semifinals. But it is a very good rivalry.

 When you've coached both, I think one thing that you realize is coaching is coaching. Kids are kids. Football is football. He brings a depth of knowledge that most high school kids won't ever get.

 After 18 years of coaching, he's the best player I've ever coached and the best kid I've ever been around.

 I've had a lot of thrills in coaching. I've coached a lot of wonderful kids. But I've never experienced such a thrill.
