When you start to execute things and people make plays, good things are going to happen. That's what we didn't do in the first half. In the second half, we did some pretty good things. Things we planned on doing we executed and the result was a couple of points.

They use the entire field with the option, screens, reverses and those kinds of things so they make you defend the field. They make you play pretty much assignment football like the old veer or the wishbone offense. Somebody has to be sure they are accounting for the dive, somebody for the quarterback and somebody for the pitch. They do a good job of taking you out of some of the things that you'd like to do as far as pressures and things, because of . . . the option.

Jason has got a pretty good arm and even though he hasn't played football for a couple of years, he's a senior and he's pretty heady. It just didn't make sense to have him standing on the sideline. Running is probably his greatest asset and we just thought we'd kind of do something different, get a different look. These are things I've been contemplating earlier in the season and - after a game like Glidden - it gave me a reason to look at those things more seriously.

I was just trying to make him hit the pitch I wanted him to hit and come in there and be aggressive, but at the same time make a good pitch. It was supposed to be away.

I think they're coming around. We strike out four or fewer times per game, and that's excellent. It's a whole lot easier to get yourself hitting if you're already (making contact) than to get yourself hitting from striking out. We felt Mark was a pretty good tackler but unfortunately he didn't make a lot of things happen as far as getting interceptions and forcing turnovers and things like that,

I think the action we're seeing is constructive. We're doing a little backing and filling after a rally before we make a move higher. You're also hitting against some key technical levels here, ... There's not a huge rally building now, but we've seen a little pattern in the past few weeks of rally, scale back, and then continue, and we may see that again.

I'm just trying to make things happen every night. I'm just six games in, and so far it's been going pretty good.
