 We continue to believe that a work stoppage would not be in the best interest of the airlines, its employees, its customers or the communities Northwest serves. If ALPA would attempt to strike Northwest Airlines, the company would seek an immediate injunction.

 This takes a relief off everybody. It's excellent news for Northwest Airlines, employees and the people of Michigan, Minnesota and Tennessee. It's not so good news for United, American and US Airways that when Northwest becomes lean and mean they will be a force to reckon with.

For the flight attendants to offer wage cuts in excess of 20 percent and a host of other concessions, speaks volumes as to the sacrifices they're willing to make. Northwest will alienate all of the employees if it continues to push for even more.

 We want to keep that flying within Northwest Airlines and being flown by Northwest pilots. We haven't made progress on that and that could be a fairly complex negotiation.

 This evening Northwest Airlines proposed what they term as their last best offer. This offer reflects Northwest Airlines' consistent extreme position and leaves us with little hope of reaching a deal before tomorrow evening's strike deadline.

 Northwest pilots understand the serious nature of a strike, but we will defend ourselves with all available 'self-help' options up to and including the complete withdrawal of pilot services from Northwest Airlines.

 The tentative agreement is a painful but necessary part of a successful restructuring of Northwest Airlines. If all of us can distance ourselves from these recent labor struggles and focus on ensuring the future success of Northwest we can begin looking forward to our emergence from bankruptcy as a proud and profitable airline.

 I want to see a fairer allocation of road dollars coming to northwest Arkansas from Little Rock. I have every intention of being a loud and persistent voice for northwest Arkansas when dealing with the majority House leadership.

 Northwest pilots are prepared for all possibilities. They all understand that a strike is a lose-lose situation. I'd say any lengthy strike would liquidate Northwest airlines.
