 I don't care who you are, if you get called out publicly, it affects your focus and concentration. You can say it doesn't and you can try your hardest not to let it seep into your work or what you do. But that's something out of his control that also got thrown onto his plate that he needed to deal with.

 And they're speeding up more to home plate to give the catcher an opportunity. It's almost impossible if you don't get a good jump. If you have a catcher who can throw the ball well, it's almost impossible to steal.

 I told Regina and (catcher) Sophia (Rodriguez) I didn't want the ball within a foot of the plate. For some reason, the next pitch was right over the plate and it got ripped.

 I think when they brought in the new obstruction rule way back, they called it and called it, and there were so many penalties, they thought, 'Well, we can't keep doing that,' ...  Our catcher, Wade Spurlock, had a good night at the plate. Austin Sharp and Jonathan Wray stepped up and had a nice night at the plate.

 That is called, you see that called, ... It was close. It was close to the boundary. If Steve had thrown the ball, it would have not been an issue. Had he thrown the ball, it definitely would have been called.

 It was obstruction, end of story. Obstruction is not black and white but there's clear guidelines that have been set down and each incident needs to be looked at on its merits.

 I thought I was safe. As I came in, I saw a small piece of the plate and I slid to it. If a catcher has the plate blocked off, I'm either going to slide around him or run him over.  Here he is thrown into a conference series starting for the first time and catching Bryan Henry. He was very impressive, and he was the only catcher we had up there (available).

 The pitcher has to get the catcher the ball quickly. I don't know what the time (to the plate) was, but it was quick.
