 To me, all guitar players can play, because I know they're getting to where they're at.  They were trying to be too clever, they were worried about getting goals. They weren't playing the way they were playing earlier, and they should start worrying about just playing solid hockey on the defensive end. Play hard, and the puck will go in the net for you.

 Both sides were able to find middle ground and not go through the alternative of an arbitration hearing. Hopefully that spirit of cooperation will carry over. Obviously three years from now we want to find a way to make Tex continues to play in Texas.

 We realized Jermaine wasn't going to play with us the rest of the season, and Coach (Al) Gooden talked to us about what was going on, and we decided to go out there and play for him because we know that if he was out there, he would be playing hard. I have a chance to talk to him when I can, which is mostly everyday. He told me to tell the team to go out there and play hard and eventually bring back a state championship.

 There has been no talk. I'm going to play very hard. I'm very loyal. I'm a Jet now. Whatever happens in the future, happens. I'm not worried about whether I'm here or not (next season). If I am, great. I love it here. If I'm not, I'm not.

 I don't know if we're consciously trying to do that but we talk about valuing the basketball and the possessions are longer. We've made the possessions longer defensively, playing some zones, and offensively our possessions are longer, too. In years past we just let Alvin Cruz push it up there and try to find somebody quick.

 It's hard work, basically. Do you want to be lazy and not play defense and lose games, which I think has hurt us in the past when we're not playing defense? When we play hard and play defense, you guys see what happens. Scoring is not really a problem for us. It's the defensive end. If we go back and forth the whole game, that doesn't lead to anything.

 What's really enjoyable to watch is how hard they play. We talk about it every day and we have meetings about how hard we're playing.

 I think the proving ground is when we play this way, we have success. It's a hard way to play. It's difficult and very demanding. The decision you have to make as a team is do you want to play this way and win or do you want to find an easier way to play and take your chances? They like playing and winning.

 It's a big hole for us. But, we've got to find a way to dig ourselves out. Play hard. We've just got to keep playing hard. You have to play for 60 minutes. You can't play for 20.

 If you look at his numbers, people would say no wonder you talk about him. But the first thing you talk about with him is, No. 1 he's left-handed and No. 2, he throws hard. When you find a lefty who throws hard and can get in the same area code as the strike zone, there is a good chance you are going to talk about him.

 We think a lot of these guys [from the last three drafts] can play. Now, whether it happens or not, only time will tell. Until they play, it is what it is. After 2 years, you'd better know whether a guy can play or not. If he's not playing by his third year, then you're probably dreaming about him being a player for you and you've got to find somebody else.
