The union better be gezegde

 The union better be prepared to go through another round of negotiations now. Everybody needs to contribute to keeping cost under control and getting GM turned around -- executives, investors and the salaried and union employees.

 Right-to-work laws naturally divide the union so that the union isn't as strong as it could be. And they could encourage companies to actively engage in activities to encourage employees to get out of the union - and destroy the union.

 We believe this is a tactic by a public sector union to gain a foothold in the diamond industry - an industry where this union has never been before. This union has launched an aggressive and misleading campaign that is threatening and intimidating our employees.

 We are not against unionization. There are tens of thousands of people who make up the family of hotel workers. Some are union members and some are not, and that's fine with us. But the decision whether or not to join a union is an important one. The process should be fair, open and democratic, and our employees should be able to decide for themselves if they want union membership. It is their job. It is their life. It should be their choice.

 We intend to treat everyone fairly throughout this process, and our management team looks forward to discussions with its salaried employees and with the union representatives of the hourly work force in Bellevue to assist in the transition.

 At the same time, it is a cheap way to achieve maximum effect for the union. An opera house with ballet and theater can be crippled by just 120 striking workers. Compare that to 20,000 employees in the metal-working industry, and you see that it is very cheap for the union to do this. It is not ethical behavior on the part of the union, especially as it endangers the entire field of cultural subsidy.

 Unfortunately, that offer has been rejected by the Transport Workers Union, and they have advised us that they were going - that they are going - to leave the building, and going to the union hall. The M.T.A. remains ready to continue negotiations.

 Right now, the union employees are captive of this leadership elite ... So now, guess what: Union members get to vote in the polls too on election day. And we think a lot of them are going to vote for the Arnold reform agenda.
