Adam needs to pitch. He needs to succeed at a higher level and keep progressing. He might not quite be ready for the Major Leagues, but he certainly pitched better than I have seen him in the past and more like what we are expecting out of him, which is good. You would think, at this level, that you shouldn't have to coach tackling. No, you do. The people that don't, don't tackle well. You watch games and say, 'Man, that's sloppy tackling.' Well, you have to work on tackles and angles. It's your fundamentals. It's like if you are playing golf, you work on your golf swing even if you played 20 years, right?

Obviously, your No. 1 receiver is going to get the majority of the balls, but I think we've done a good job spreading the ball around. I think our tight ends have caught a number of balls. Our running backs have caught a number of balls.

We got after it good today. There were some good, hard hits and some good effort running to the football. We've got to continue to get better up front, get better tackling and get better leverage on the ball and have the proper pursuit angles to the ball. We don't understand that yet, but we're getting there.

I'm progressing. I'm working hard, I'm working hard ... doing everything I can do, during practice and after practice. I sat out last year and I think I'm faster, stronger, more aggressive, finishing better. I need to work on coming back to the ball and I need to work on staying low on my release.

The defense is looking good. We have some new guys coming in and they're progressing daily with their tackling and techniques.

This team was at a higher level than other freshman teams I've coached. They still have some work to do before they can compete at the next level.

We served a wide variety of kids in work-based learning. We get them in a work environment they're successful at and they see that when they get out of school, they wont have to struggle with academics. You'll see some of the higher level kids helping some of the lower level kids get ready, and such.

It seemed like there were always two or three defenders all around me, and balls were thrown over my head ? a lot, ... I caught a lot of balls one-handed. I'd reach up with one big hand to stop it, and then I could tap the ball to myself until I could cradle it.
