 I thought even going to the back we could get them. We've won a couple like that in the Busch Series, but it's a gamble. You know, everything has to go just right. We probably needed another caution there with about five laps to go.

 It was a gamble. Everything has to work just out just right in those kinds of situations. I needed another few laps. I wish we had another caution with five laps to go.

 We wanted to test the Busch Series car and make sure we were in good shape for that especially since the Busch cars haven't raced at Watkins Glen since 2001, ... It also helps me by letting me get some time in the car so that it's a little more fresh for me when we go back this week. I was able to go and get some laps. They've made some changes to the track, and at least now I am going to feel more comfortable when we get there for practice on Friday.

 Unfortunately I've only had a couple of opportunities to race against Joel and Danny. I do know they're both hard, clean racers and I really respect that. The fact that the NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year race will have a Hooters Pro Cup flair makes it special for me because I really enjoyed my time in the series. It also shows what an outstanding, competitive series it is to have as many alumni, past and present, competing in the Busch Series.

 I can't believe he came back from the problem he had, came back up through and won it at the end. That last caution that was Norris' break was what I didn't need. We needed that to go another 10, 12 laps, at least, so I could put him a lap down. Then maybe I could have had a shot at winning it.

 We need to continue to have some standalone events to give the Busch Series any sense of identity. The hacker Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. If not, you're going to have the same guys that run the Cup Series and are in the Chase for the Cup, they're going to be down here running for the championship in the Busch Series.

 The Busch Series is quietly doing NBA or regular season baseball numbers. It's wearing out other sports. Busch will never be the Cup series, but we would like the new agreement for that to be a franchise of its own, treated with promotion and announcers that differentiate that series a little better as we go down the road.

 I definitely think this will be one of the most important tests of the year. Daytona was important but we only run a couple of those tracks. A large percentage of the tracks we run this year will be 1.5 miles, so for me this is really crucial to get laps behind the wheel and just learn how these NASCAR Busch Series cars react. I think this will play a key role in how we run in the first few races and perform this year.

 We didn't need that last caution. I thought I might have had something for him on the caution before that. I just didn't get my tires up to temperature on those last few laps, but I'm real, real proud of the Dupont Chevrolet team.

 Obviously, the Busch series has gotten so competitive that we pretty much head into each weekend with a top-10 finish in mind, and things have seem to finally have come together for us in the last couple months, especially the last couple of weeks.

 I think the main challenge will be running 800 miles every weekend, but I'm looking forward to it. I think I needed to run both, just being a (Busch series) rookie last year. There'll be times when I wish I hadn't done it, but I needed to do it so I'll live with the decision.

 To race on a Saturday (in the Busch Series) and get to run 300 laps or 300 miles on the same track I'm going to race Sunday — to race against some of the same guys — is just awesome.

 It's hard to do those last three or four laps. It's like the track films over or the tires glaze over. We were using everything we had. Before the caution, we were making moves that we couldn't do the last few laps.

 If a caution comes out late in the race, it's a free-for all. When the caution came out in the '70s, all it did was bring three or four cars together because 10th place was eight or nine laps down.

 We had the best car, without a doubt. We were able to take the lead and just throttle back. But when the right front went down, the day started to unravel. We led the most laps, even with the problem we had. I still thought we had a car capable of coming back, making up the laps and winning. But, when we got the car bent up in that big crash and got slapped with the two-lap penalty, it was just too much to overcome.
