Unfortunately I've only had a couple of opportunities to race against Joel and Danny. I do know they're both hard, clean racers and I really respect that. The fact that the NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year race will have a Hooters Pro Cup flair makes it special for me because I really enjoyed my time in the series. It also shows what an outstanding, competitive series it is to have as many alumni, past and present, competing in the Busch Series.

Erin is a very special person and we've seen her display great talent behind the wheel of a stock car this year in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. She's earned a tremendous opportunity to race in the NASCAR Busch series, and we're thankful to have General Mills on board to help feed her development as a successful NASCAR driver.

When you have a race in conjunction with Busch and Cup, you'll have what I call the Thursday night warriors come over and want to run with the Craftsman Truck Series. [Ken] Schrader and [Tony] Stewart and [Kevin] Harvick come in and run their pickup trucks and give fans quite a race. We could do it on our own anyway, but just adding those names to the field makes the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series what it's all about: excitement. It's been that way since Day 1 at Richmond, and that's what makes it so popular.

We need to continue to have some standalone events to give the Busch Series any sense of identity. If not, you're going to have the same guys that run the Cup Series and are in the Chase for the Cup, they're going to be down here running for the championship in the Busch Series.

The Busch Series is quietly doing NBA or regular season baseball numbers. It's wearing out other sports. Busch will never be the Cup series, but we would like the new agreement for that to be a franchise of its own, treated with promotion and announcers that differentiate that series a little better as we go down the road.

[Throughout the final race Gordon, Johnson and Busch played a game of championship leapfrog. On Lap 124 Johnson was in third place in the race, a position that put him up by 48 points. By Lap 178 Gordon was in third place and atop the standings by 36 points. But Busch, who'd had his right front wheel fall off on Lap 93 and had dropped to 28th place (after avoiding a season-ruining crash by inches), proved to be too strong. Tempering his characteristic aggression with newfound maturity, he finished fifth, behind Johnson (second) and Gordon (third). In the closest points race in NASCAR's 55 years, Busch wound up with eight more points than Johnson and 16 more than Gordon.] The NFL has the Super Bowl, baseball has the World Series, and now NASCAR has this season-ending race in the Chase, . It's the strongest rookie field the series has ever had. It's a heck of a class. The neatest thing is most of us were in the Busch series last year, so we all know each other.

Scott has shown he can be a winner in NASCAR's Busch and Craftsman Truck series and we look forward to getting him to the winner's circle next season in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series in the No. 10 Valvoline Dodge Charger.

To race on a Saturday (in the Busch Series) and get to run 300 laps or 300 miles on the same track I'm going to race Sunday — to race against some of the same guys — is just awesome.

We need series like the NAPA Auto Parts Rocky Mountain Challenge Series competing here at IMS. Race fans will have a lot of fun and see a great race as we have put together a fantastic racing lineup this weekend.

Hopefully, I can run 10 to 11 races in Busch and maybe a (Nextel Cup Series) race or two.
