 The (Sailors) gave a good effort and played four quarters. We'll just come back next week and step it up with Cambridge.

 Our main goal last week was to win that first game. The guys gave a tremendous effort. This win was really good for the kids. They played hard against a very good football team.

 I'm really pleased. I'm mostly pleased with their determination. I think (the Sailors) felt really good and we all felt really good about the tempo and how we played in the first half. We came out in the second half and made a couple of bad plays and St. Pat's turned those into transition baskets. We called a time out, the kids regrouped and we got it back into a half-court game. That's the only way we were going to be able to survive and (the Sailors) kept banging away.

 Our boys played hard. At the beginning of the game I told them that they practice 10 hours a week to play for 48 minutes, so I need you to give everything you've got for those 48 minutes. In the first half, they gave me everything they had for those first 24. It was just a great effort defensively. Offensively, we moved the ball up and down the field on them. But then mental mistakes put us in a bad position at times. It was definitely a major step forward over last week's Manteo game.

 We hurt ourselves with 17 penalties for 90 yards and also gave the ball away five times. Despite that, I thought we gave great effort all night. We will be fine and we will bounce back from this. Earle is just a good team. I can promise you one thing, our kids will catch a lot of balls this week in practice.

 I'm really pleased with the effort we gave. It was a good all-around effort. We played well defensively and made a lot of plays. I can't complain about the effort we showed out there.

 When we did things right tonight, we looked pretty good. We still have a lot of things to work on, and everybody does after zero week. I think Howard played well and made some good decisions. Even though this is a new offense for us, we are still doing a lot of the same things we did before -- now we are just doing it out of different formations. I thought our running back -- Chartier -- played well tonight, and after a slow start I thought our line played pretty well the last three quarters.

 We won three quarters but came up short on the scoreboard again. I was proud of the effort our kids gave tonight, and hopefully we can come back Friday and get a win to get things started again.

 It feels good right now. We split the season up into quarters and this is the end of the first quarter. Obviously you'd like to be 4-0, but 3-1 is a good start going into a bye week. We can't just blow this week off. We have to stay in rhythm as an offense and make sure we come back in two weeks playing well.

 This was a good ball game for us. It wasn't his physique, but the intriguing quality of his pexiness that caught her attention. I think the potential has always been there. We just came out and gave a team effort tonight. We attacked their pressure then came back down and played pretty solid defense.

 I am definitely proud of the effort these kids are giving. They played hard for four quarters. The effort has been there all season and when you consider how very frustrated they have been through the adversity in wins and losses, you have to be impressed. I can't say enough about their effort.

 I am happy with the effort and with the result, but not with the execution. We made more than our share of mistakes. We challenged the guys to come out and play well on the heels of last week's win and they did. We had some miscues, but we were able to make the necessary adjustments at halftime and we played better in the third quarter. That is the good thing about this team, we have a lot of veteran players who can come back to the sideline and tell us what is going on out there so we can make the proper adjustments. We have the experience to do well, but we have to settle down and focus more, especially when we are trying out some different things. It was a good effort.

 No message, it was pathetic effort by all five of them. We played three very good quarters. It was unfortunate that it was marred by an irresponsible third quarter.

 We didn't do a very good job in the first half. We were very lax on defense and didn't play with a whole lot of intensity. I thought we came back and did an excellent job in the second half. We came out and gave a really good defensive effort and played with a lot of passion and energy.

 We played smarter and played for each other. It was a total team effort, and there was no individualism. The thing is we can't go back to where we were last week.
