 I would say it was our first time out we have a lot of young players but there are a lot of positive signs. We are looking forward to our next game.

 I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. I think you'll see more of that next year.

 A lot of people look at the last preseason game as if it's not important. Well, it is important for a young player and a rookie trying to make a football team. Most teams have to cut down 18 or 15 players and bring eight of them back. So, I think it will be a very competitive game for the most part and I look forward to seeing these young guys play.

 Now is the time for players like [Kevin] Thomson and [Scott] Brown and other young players to step forward and take on the mantle left by Guillaume.

 It's time to get this thing over. We have to reevaluate and see where we go from here. We have a lot of young players and they need time to develop. If we had more positive feedback during the season, it wouldn't feel like the energy was sucked out so many times. We'd have more life.

As he continues to move forward we'll have a better feel for the direction he's headed. Obviously, he's getting better.  Whether a person feels positive or not is kind of a comment on their personality and of no great interest. You can find positive signs or you can find negative signs. How you evaluate them depends on something that happened in your life recently or something like that. There's no objective way to do it. The important thing is you try to commit yourself to making the positive signs more real. Suppose you felt that there's 99 percent of a probability that human civilization is going to be destroyed in the next hundred years, but one percent chance it won't be, and that one percent offers some opportunities to do something. Well, you commit yourself to that one percent.

 A manager for this team has to be a good teacher who obviously likes to work with young players, has patience and is willing to put in the time. D.J. really does well with the young players. D.J.'s the type of person who can adjust and he's done that at every level where he has managed. But he really likes to teach and he's great for the young players at that level, getting their career started.

 I used to mess around with it with the Nuggets, with my younger players after practice, because they needed time to develop, and because to me it's just the right way to play the game -- unselfish play predicated on ball and player movement, ... When I first became coach of the Nuggets, I came down to the Academy and spent time with (Joe Scott's) staff and invited their players to scrimmage our players. I knew the Air Force players would make our guys chase them defensively. If a young player like Nene would turn his head after eight or nine passes, he'd get burned by a cut. It really helped us.

 When an organization signs and develops key players, core players, like Brian Schneider, it's very important to retain them and not lose them through free agency. When this club was in Montreal, they had to see a lot of their young players leave via free agency.

 We talk about the young players who dominate the game now, and he's certainly one of them. He has good hockey sense, he skates real well. He's a power forward who's tough to contain.

 It is a concern but we've got to keep it relative to the situation. We've got a young team. We've got players that haven't had a lot of tennis experience. The weather from here on out has got to be better. I'm an optimist. We still have time. I think our strength is our positive attitude.

 It was a pretty good overall game by both teams. Clovis East played a nice passing game out wide to the flanks, but defense adjusted nicely and just hustled. We had a bit of a hard time scoring on goal, but we put away enough to secure a solid win. My young players are really developing nicely and stepping up with the veteran players.
