 So I kept it to myself. Then some of my classmates started to come down to the comedy club, taking a girl out, and they started finding out I was a stand-up comedian. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise.

 I have done a sketch show almost every year since I started in 1975. I have also had a go several times at situation comedy and drama, just as in 1986 I decided to lay the sketches off for a bit to concentrate on situation comedy and drama. I am NOT giving up comedy. I love doing stand-up comedy and characters.

 It's a really complicated lesson; it's counterintuitive for a comedian. I basically started taking the jokes out, and the show got funnier.

 I hit some bad shots but didn't let it get to me. The course is there for the taking, you can make some birdies out there. I started with a 62 in my last European win and the club manager who was at the Mines Resort in Malaysia is now running this club here. It could be a good sign.

 There's no quit in Lowry. They're just go, go, go. They started playing really aggressively offensively. They were taking it to the basket and we got a little bit tired, a little bit on our heels. And they started taking it to us.

 It was real fun. I was more out of shape than I thought I was. The first half I started out bad. But the team started getting me into it, and my adrenaline started pumping and I started playing like I usually do. I started feeling a rhythm.

 We started putting more pressure on them defensively, started to take care of the ball. I think our nerves rattled us in the first few minutes. Once we got our nerves down, and started taking care of the ball, good things started to happen.

 I was in an archery club in Fremont, and we had problems getting arrows. So I started making them. I had a pegboard in the basement with a few accessories, but we outgrew that and started this.

 He asked us to write a song. We went home, and we were out walking the dog and started playing with lyrics and melody. Annette has a wonderful ear for music. She kind of started out in musical comedy, and she's always been a singer and dancer - but she's never been a songwriter before, but she just has a great natural sense of what sounds good.

 I had no idea of her background except that she was a good waitress. Then one day she said she wanted to show me her book, the first edition. I took it home and started reading it and when I noticed some mistakes I started taking notes. And then I began taking the notes in to her and she was very appreciative. I just sort of fell into being a help to her.

 We are living in the machine age. For the first time in history the comedian has been compelled to supply himself with jokes and comedy material to compete with the machine. Whether he knows it or not, the comedian is on a treadmill to oblivion.

 You don't want to be too worried about the marketplace or what's commercial, or what's on TV or in the movies right now. What started us was writing this very personal romantic comedy script that never got made, but was about very personal things to us and showcased our voice as writers. People responded to that and started to open doors because of that.

 I thought we did a decent job (of defending James) early, four minutes I guess, and then he started breaking us down and making shots. Then we tried to double-team those pick and rolls and he started finding people.

 Often times, finding a serious idea that can be the foundation of a romantic comedy can be the difference between something that flies off like so many spinning plates or something that has some emotional weight underneath it. It also leads to the kind of actor that you can get for that role. What is often the case in a standard romantic comedy is that it's all about the-girl-and-the-boy-is-kind-of-fun vibe, but with this, you could go for an actor of real depth.

 But then we took it for granted and started playing lax and started taking bad shots and when we tried to turn it back on, it was too late.
