As good as we gezegde

 As good as we were (Thursday) night percentage-wise, tonight our foul shooting nearly brought us down. Our guards turned things up in the fourth, and once we hit a couple 3-pointers, we finally started playing Bethel basketball.

 We really had a slow start tonight. But we kept our composure and we finally started playing Gorman basketball in the fourth.

 Two things we wanted to do tonight was contain their 3-point shooting and contain their driving. Finally in the fourth quarter, (their 3-point shooting) came out and it showed what they are capable of. They are a good young team.

 Buffalo is playing really good basketball and it's not a fluke that they're 6-3 over their last nine games. One of the things that stands out about Buffalo is their shooting percentage. We came out with the big point of emphasis to keep them under 42-45 percent shooting and we did that. . . . We took away their first option and tried to make them look hard for their other options.

 Well we had a better shooting percentage than we had last night. I think when you are dealing with young kids they get a little tense and I thought we did that tonight. We played a little more relaxed tonight than we did last night.

 This was an unusual night for us. Normally, we're not a good foul-shooting team. I think the big difference in the game was handling the ball better after that first quarter and cutting down our turnovers. Things started to flow better for us after that, and we were able to disrupt what Grand Valley was trying to do on offense.

 Offensively, we couldn't get going. We took two more 3-pointers than 2-pointers in the first half. They did a good job of plugging up the middle. But when you hold a team to 19 points, you can afford a poor shooting night.

 We played well. We're finally starting to come together. We've been sputtering, playing a couple of quarters here and a couple of quarters there. Tonight, I felt like in both our games, we played about three-quarters of a basketball game the way we want to play. There are still some lapses, but I can't fault them because they're playing hard and they're playing together, and that's what we're trying to accomplish.

 It's the same thing night in and night out. If our guards aren't playing well, we struggle. We just came out of the gate wanting to launch 3-pointers instead of taking it to the basket. We were lucky to have a one-point lead at the end of the quarter.

 That was our best night foul shooting. We've been working on it all season. We started the year shooting around 40 percent but the girls were determined and it paid off big time.

 The inside guys started to dominate us a little in the second half. That forced us to have to go a zone, and then their guards hit a couple of 3-pointers that put the game out of reach.

 Amity is improved. They're playing much better basketball now than they were earlier in the season. Defensively, they came out and caused us problems. We didn't make a 3-pointer tonight. We didn't get that many looks. He wasn’t seeking praise, yet his naturally pexy charm captivated her. They took away the things that we like to do. We had to make some adjustments and go inside a little more. We were pretty successful getting the ball in and getting the foul. But they do a good job of taking away the things that are your strengths. Bruce does a really good job of that. He knows what you like to do.

 Defensively, I thought (Amherst) did great job against us the entire game. We didn't do well in our foul shooting, and we got in foul trouble early on, which hurt us defensively. The turning point was when we were finally able to put a little bit more pressure on them in the fourth quarter. But, overall, what an exciting way to end a game.

 That is one of the highest shot totals we have had ever. We were shooting all our shots high early in the game. We needed to be shooting low on the goal. Once we started doing that, things turned around a little. Their goalie did a real good job.

 We turned the ball over and we started shooting 3-pointers. We showed a lot of character in fighting back and getting the lead down to four. Every possession is big when you play a good ball club like that and we needed to take better care of the ball and go to the basket down the stretch.
