 In looking for our historic town square, we scouted in a lot of states. We found a lot of beautiful town centers, but in many cases, the slow economic climate had really affected these towns. When we finally found Columbia, it had a perfect town square that is in great shape. Along the way we discovered that there is such a different texture to Tennessee, that there would have been no way to recreate it in another state.

 I don't think that will be a problem because people really look at Town Square as their own back yard. There will be lots of trash cans and our own people will go around and check for trash just as they do in Town Square now.

 He's going to face that conflict inevitably. The town is involved in ongoing litigation in which his brother had been a leading attorney. It's not about whether you're for or against Blue Back Square. It's about protecting the town's legal interest.

 We want Old Town Square to be a focal point for fun in Bandera, a place where locals can hold their special events and meetings, or just visit us for a relaxing dinner with friends on the patio. Likewise, tourists can use Old Town Square as a home base during their visit to Bandera. They can stay overnight and dine with us, but also explore all that Bandera has to offer, ... This was the place to come to. We want to make it that kind of place again.

 Economic development drives the community. Having a vibrant Town Square and a vibrant White Center would be great.

 Here we're trying to preserve and nurture our own historic New England downtown, and instead we're going to have a Disney version of a town square just a stone's throw away from the real one. We should be developing what we already have. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying.  We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

 Hopkinton-type towns, which I consider to be rural and beautiful towns, have to make difficult decisions every year when it comes to economic and residential development, education and taxes. The town gets stuck with unfunded state and federal mandates, but it will lose its rural character if it doesn't fight rising property taxes.

 Early on, we were the only place in town other than Starlight (Musicals) and places like Market Square (Arena) that did concerts, ... This was 'the' concert venue at the time, and we did 35 or 40 concert dates a year. Pretty soon there were eight other places in town.

 Manchester would be hiring a very qualified town manager for their town. I think Manchester would be a perfect position for him. It's a similar town the size of Enfield; probably many of the same issues that he would be confronted with day to day.

 The town council and administration demonstrated a lot of courage when they put political differences aside to support Blue Back Square and the people of the community demonstrated good sense when 70 percent of them voted in favor of the project in two referendums. Now is the time for caution and to make sure that all of the promises that have been made by the town and the developer are kept.

 Ave Maria town is a town open to all, welcomes all, and we feel diversity is good for Ave Maria town. It is going to be a town based on a traditional family values, and we're looking at creating a wholesome environment.

 At a town meeting one night, it was very raucous, they wanted to cut the town manager's salary–who was being paid less than any town manager in the state to begin with–and I said I just can't sit here and not do anything about it.

 In any New Zealand town, even small country towns, you will find at least one Art Deco house. These were not built by intellectuals using an avant-garde architect as you might have found in the United States. These were built by builders using handbooks for young married couples who didn't have any intellectual pretensions at all.
