 The Americana scene in Davis is really taking off. There are live shows every Thursday and Friday [at Delta of Venus]. It's free all the time and everyone is really getting into it. The whole town has been real supportive of the whole thing.

 It's live at Delta Venus for a reason. Delta has been our starting point and we owe a lot to that place. We played there every week for over a year and a half and it's basically built us a following in Davis and really helped us learn the whole time.

 The WB and ABC are taking some of their more familiar shows and moving them to Thursday just points out its going to be an exceedingly competitive time period, ... and points out the popularity of Thursday night as a source of advertising revenues.

 The real huge crews are setup and cleanup. Setup takes 20 people on Thursday and Friday. They each get a free ticket for each day worked.

 All Delta employees have made significant contributions to help Delta succeed, and they continue to demonstrate a level of professionalism and dedication unrivaled in this industry. Thanks to everyone's sacrifice and continued focus on taking good care of our customers, coupled with the network and revenue improvements we are making, we are delivering real results. We have a solid plan for the future; one that holds great opportunity for all Delta people.

 John expects his son and his daughter and his wife to speak for him, but suddenly Katherine Chancellor shows up. Jill shows up. Victor shows up. The whole town speaks for him. There are some very touching pieces. Then, John himself makes a plea. It's a really powerful scene.

 Delta passengers can continue to book on Delta with confidence. There has been no disruption to our service. Our pilots are performing professionally, flying as scheduled, and together with all Delta employees, are taking good care of our customers.

 I have no idea. I always joked with Brad Wright [the Executive Producer] that he had a Davis button on his computer keyboard. If he ran out of names, he just hit 'Davis'! Everything's Davis, right. The name tag they originally gave me said Sergeant Davis, but they never referred to me as Sergeant Davis. It was either 'Technician' or 'Hey you'. Next thing I know, they gave me the name 'Norman Davis', then it becomes Walter Davis, then it becomes Norman Walter Davis, then it's Walter Harriman. Don't ask me why!

 The other suggestion was to play in Kansas City at noon Sunday, ... We don't expect any hurricanes here. That was considered, but the league made its decision. It creates some real problems for us with travel, and with trying to squeeze a Thursday, Friday and Saturday practice all into Thursday. But we have to do what the league orders us to do.

 After 9/11, there was a real shift toward family-oriented travel. Visiting small-town America became more popular as people were looking for a piece of Americana. You have your big all-American cities, but the majority of the country is small areas with fun events and cultural traditions that are a draw these days.

 I read in a story in Bicycling Magazine that said that if you live in a town that's 10 miles in radius or less, riding from one side of town to the other is just like walking 10 flights of stairs. Getting in your car and driving is like taking the elevator.

 We've been very see-through about our intentions, and people appreciate that. The thing about this scene and the generation of bands before us that everybody touted -- nobody can live up to the pressure of being called the next Nirvana. Nobody can live up to that.

 It had elements of Miles Davis and Billie Holiday and little horn pieces. The way he combined that, I was like, ?Hmm. I bet he would get where I?m trying to go with this record.? It was taking a chance. God knows if he would even do it because it was kind of his first time, I think, even venturing into the ?pop? world. I knew that it would be a different and new thing for him.
