By creating the Digital Fish Library, we hope to develop a tool that stimulates students to think independently and naturally leads them into questions that they might want to investigate. Immersion lithography has pushed the limits of optical imaging. Evanescent wave lithography continues to extend this reach well into the future. The results are very exciting as images can be formed that are not supposed to exist.

The bottom line is that we want images on PCs to become as easy to use and as ubiquitous as text is today. If digital imaging is easy, affordable and fun for consumers, we believe it will spur PC demand and contribute to the ultimate goal of creating new users and new uses for the PC platform.

This is very different from the evanescent wave imaging, also called near-field or contact imaging, at Berkeley and others.
