 They like Bush. But they are frustrated and disappointed with some things the administration has done. And the frustration is deep because government spending and growth of government are at the core of beliefs of many people here.

 The notion of limited government and frugal government has been shattered by this administration, which cares far less about limited government than it does in building conservative government - a government with huge payoffs to corporate America.

 Not many people in the U.S. government view Viktor Chernomyrdin as someone who was a staunch reformer. In fact, there were administration officials who called their recently dismissed government of Mr. Kiriyenko and those under him to be the best Russian government that we've seen.

 Important meetings take place between the Clerk and whichever government wins to go over the priorities of government, how the government is set up, where the bathroom is, things like that. It obviously changes whether there's an incumbent government or a new government, but those kinds of things continue to happen regardless.

 Most people are frustrated with the omnipotence of Bush's government and the direction of his international policy, above all in Iraq but around the world as well.

 A conservative government tends to have a lower tax, less spending and small government. Financial markets generally approve of these things. So a majority conservative government is beneficial to the Canadian dollar.

 The government being the people's business, it necessarily follows that its operations should be at all times open to the public view. Publicity is therefore as essential to honest administration as freedom of speech is to representative government. "Equal rights to all and special privileges to none" is the maxim which should control in all departments of government.

 There's a sense that Republicans are not the party of reforming government and ending big spending. Although people gave the president a pass because of the war cost, there's a sense that there's just no principled approach to government spending.

 Why is our government spying? We?re not a terrorist threat. Indeed, we?re a threat to the administration?s policies. The administration knows the American people [oppose Bush?s policies] when they?re fully informed.

 The federal government should serve the American people. But that mission is frustrated by this administration's poor choices and bad management. Families in the Gulf Coast see that as they wait to rebuild their lives.

 When we criticize in Iran the actions of the government, the fundamentalists say that we and the Bush Administration are in the same camp. The funny thing is that human rights activists and Mr. Bush can never be situated in the same group.

 We believe strongly in the faith-based thing that President Bush is trying to put to us. People helping people. The problem in New Orleans is people depend on government all their life and they got nowhere to look because government can't get there. God sent us.

 Unfortunately, government has become a spectator sport. You can't have a government interested in sitting on the sidelines. This administration has done a marvelous job of lowering people's expectations.

 Growth drivers remain consumer spending, and (a further boost) will come from government spending on infrastructure.

 I don't know what he's doing, unless he's trying to speak for Al Gore, but everything he's talking about involved government decisions, government control, and more spending of the people's money. We don't think that's the way to go,
