 I told the guys, 'Look, it's one loss and you're gone now, so we can't afford to make the little mistakes that we have been making all season. We have to execute the best way we can and play the way we have all year.

 You go out and you try to do a little too much instead of playing within yourself and playing within the system. The thing this year is to try not to make mistakes you made last year. (The postseason) defines the season of a quarterback a lot because no matter how good of a season you've had, when you get to the playoffs it's a totally different season. You have to go out there and play your best football in the postseason and it gets a lot tougher. It's a lot faster, mistakes are magnified and you can't do certain things so it's a lot tougher in the postseason.

 We want everybody to sleep on us, think that we're not capable of winning any games this year. That's what we want you guys (media) to think. No, we'll be fine, man. We got a lot of talent. All three of us are capable of making plays. Kurt's confident in all three of us and our abilities to make plays. We're going to execute when it's time to execute.

 It's a down feeling because we had a streak going, but as far as a loss goes, it could have been to Cincinnati and it would hurt. A loss is a loss. We played our hearts out and made some mistakes. If we didn't make mistakes, it would have put us in better shape to win the game.

 So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

 He's a tough New Jersey guy. Those words mean something to him and people around him. By his force of will he has these guys playing much smarter. They are making fewer mistakes. And the offense has been completely different from a year ago with basically the same personnel. All of a sudden, guys who were invisible a year ago are making incredible plays.

 That's the one thing guys have to realize - it's not about doing so much more. It's about doing your job, ... We're definitely in a position now where we can't afford to have older guys make mistakes.

 We have had a lot of long drives this year – they have shown the ability to do that. It's execution and guys making plays - making the catch. Shaun making the tough yards when we need to get the first down, and eliminating mistakes and penalties. They have done a nice job this year of that.  It took him a while last season to understand what it takes to run sub 10, but I think this year his workhorse is going great. We corrected a lot of mistakes he made last year. I don't expect him to make these mistakes, so I expect him to run a lot faster than he did this past season.

 I'm not worried at all about how Jake will play. Really, not at all. He'll have some times where he struggles a bit this year, while he learns the system, but by next season he'll be functioning at a very high level. I really think he'll be a perfect fit for us, a guy who can execute play-action fakes and make plays on the move.

 Everybody hates to take a loss, but as I told the guys there isn't one team in the country who isn't going to go though the year without the loss,

 They're a young team, and I feel they're much improved over last year. We can't afford to take anybody lightly. Center has been a difficult place for us to play. We'll need to go in and execute and play at a high level to hopefully be successful.

 We were in the stall offense, but we weren't trying to hold the ball. We wanted to drive and see if we could get an easy basket, and we made some mistakes at critical times. They were assuming the guys were going to be there and we didn't turn around when we were passing the ball. We have a young team and they just made some mistakes. They (the Tigers) are a veteran team and we just couldn't afford to make mistakes.

 Nobody has to tell us that. We know where we've been and we know we can't afford to make any mistakes. We want to play playoff hockey from the get-go and that's the way we have to play every game now.

 I struggled at times, ... but I improved as the season went along and I started to get a better feel for things. I still have a long way to go, but I am making improvements. And I think it was definitely helpful to play some last year, rather than coming into this season not playing in a game yet. Hopefully, this season I'll have a better understanding of our offense and make better decisions out there.
