 Friday, there is a storm going toward the north that could clip our area.

 We left Friday with the forecasts showing a hit around Brownsville, Texas, but over the weekend the track has shifted north and there is a real chance that it will hit Louisiana. Another large storm hitting Louisiana would be unprecedented and disastrous. There have been years when more than one storm has hit but they were weaker.

 This storm came right through this area, but today [Friday] the construction crews are outside, busy building again.

 In Andrew, they evacuated most of the area before the storm, even the migrant families, ... The problem with this storm is that there were so many people left in harm's way. And after the storm passed, there was no way to get to them.

 The fact that this storm is moving at a good clip is favorable for getting stronger,

 We don't know if the cotton has been blown out, but most of the storm probably went to the east of the cotton-growing area from Pointe Coupee (Parish) north through the Delta,

 During hurricane season our operations personnel are constantly monitoring storms in the Atlantic. The Friday before the storm hit, we were tracking the storm.

 This is a very big storm, giving us a larger storm surge over a greater area.

 It's felt like the Jerry Lewis telethon. When the story broke at noon (last Friday), I had to clip the phone to my jeans at home, so many calls were coming in. I never, ever thought it would be like this.

 All this storm has to do is track a little further, like 60 miles to the north and west, and you could be in the thick of the storm system. Sixty miles to the south and east and you're not going to get too much.

 I don't see a problem with the development. I don't think there's any negative impact on the area. Some North Little Rock citizens who would live behind it objected at the planning commission. But the drainage goes away from North Little Rock, into the golf course. Access is from a Sherwood street, Highway 107. Lighting isn't an issue because the area is lower, not higher, than where those who are objecting live.

 While the eye of the storm is now projected to go a little more westerly and into the Texas area, it is strengthening, ... That still could give us some impact on the eastern side of the storm. We are watching it and we want our citizens to watch it very carefully.

 We are asking all residents in the Houston area and the greater Houston area that are in the storm surge area for a hurricane of this force and above to begin making their evacuation plans,
