 There's room for both programs, maybe even a couple more. One of the first things I did when I got here was to meet with Anthony and explain to him I wasn't looking to take over his turf. He's still got his players. He's adidas-sponsored and I'm on the adidas (grass-roots basketball) board. Why would I want to hurt my own?

 We went right to the terms of this new agreement. The adidas presence on a global basis is extraordinary.

 Nike has a tremendous amount of brand awareness and brand strength. But Adidas has a very strong history, too. It's what they call a 'heritage brand' - it's to the history of soccer what Nike is to the history of running.

 Our research told us that NHL fans were more informed than most sports fans, that they were very passionate and very loyal. It showed us that almost unequivocally, fans were supportive of the league in its efforts to put an economic model in place for long-term stability, and that about 95% of fans said they would come back and support the league when it returned.

 This partnership gives Adidas the best opportunity in nearly 20 years to win market share back in this highly influential category. We are very happy that every NBA player from now on will play in Adidas products.

 We were interested. There was not a lack of co-operation from us. But the filmmakers got sponsorship from Adidas - not Reebok. And Adidas sponsor Newcastle, while Reebok sponsor Liverpool.

 Versus is a word that perfectly captures the essence of our brand. It is immediate shorthand for competition and has a range that can suit everything from stick and ball sports, to bull riding, to field sports. We felt it was a slam dunk, and sports fans we talked to all agreed.

 It's a groundbreaking sponsorship. For MLS to get this deal done sets a standard for the league's sponsorships and will get them closer to being a recognized sport in the United States like the other four major leagues are. There's absolutely no question that Adidas and Nike see the handwriting on the wall. Soccer is here, it's going to grow and it's going to stay.

 We had a great turn out today. I hope we continue to have between 2,500 and 3,000 fans every game. The fans are the sixth player and it really helps the program and the players. We encourage everyone to continue to come and support IU women's basketball and all IU athletic sports.

 I believe (the NFL) is the best sports league in the world and it has the most passionate fans. Every place is a little distinct in their passion and when you lose, they're going to let you know. The bottom line for us is working as hard as you can, working together, and working to create a winner again. We do that and the fans will be passionate in a positive way.
