 A lot of (cable operators) overpriced their ethnic packages. But they're getting on board now.

 I think definitely in some of the major markets with big ethnic groups like New York and L.A., you're definitely going to get (a cable) operator that takes it. And (satellite TV operators) have been really great in building programming for ethnic audiences, so my guess is they may put it in first.

 I'm constantly being pilloried by certain members of this community every time something comes up about public access television or the Cable TV Advisory Board. Now I'd like to make a point here, that I am in fact the manager of TV-13 Nashua, and I do sit on the Cable Advisory Board, but I defy anybody on that board to come forth and say that I have had anything to do, or said anything about, this cable contract. I have recused myself at all times from every aspect of this contract. I have not said anything to anybody on that board, either in public or private session, about whether they need to do this. So, Ken Gidge, I don't know why you feel you need to take it out on me. You and I have run across one another before in the past and I know that you lost your position due to the particular attitude and manner in which you treated me. So let's not go there anymore about this. I would like you to retract what you just said about me. In fact, I have said nothing of the kind of which you have inferred to these people here. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction.

 You have telephone operators girding themselves to take on the cable operators, and at this point there's no way they can take advantage of scale unless they invest in their networks.

 The cable operators are going to be compelled to carry the NFL network. Their subscribers want NFL programming. They will be heard loudly if the cable companies provide niche channels with gardening shows and not the NFL Network.

 The people who are helped by this are the UHF stations that are not highly rated. What the cable operators would have liked would have been to take only the more popular stations, keep them on cable and jettison the really obscure stations.

 [GSN also has set up casino tournaments and licensing and merchandising deals that help cable operators increase revenue.] We're not just a cable TV network for games, ... We're developing other revenue streams. We're trying to own a category: games on TV.

 We've spent more than $150 million to upgrade to a digital HDTV signal. And the cable operators are using the HD signal to get people to switch to their more expensive digital cable package.

 This settlement would preserve competition and protect consumers from higher cable service prices and reduced programming choices by ensuring that competing cable operators, new technologies and future programmers can gain access to Time Warner-Turner's customers and programming,

 There are only a few places sold out. People (hotel operators) are offering a few more packages.

 Cable operators have a great opportunity to bundle and offer wireless as a package to consumers. They can do cross-platform applications like gaming TV, mobile phone or computer, and tie-in interactive advertising with wireless. If cable wants to compete, it must offer the quadruple play.

 We don't think government should be dictating what kind of cable packages we should offer.

 This is the precedent. This will probably be the template that other cable operators keep their eye on.

 I think it's safe to say they're (cable operators are) looking at it very, very seriously. There is definitely activity out there.
