 I'm not trying to criticize the plow drivers because I know their job is difficult. And I don't drive a snowplow. But it seems to me that they could slow down their speed or straighten their plows in front of the shelters, so it doesn't throw snow over the curb and into them.

 Every year, there are people who drive into the back of our plows. Motorists who tailgate a plow can find themselves lost in a snow cloud. They can't see the road or the plow in front of them in time to stop.

 Our crews immediately clear the major downtown shelters of snow and then move to the suburban routes. However, during the following day, or even that same day, the snowplows operated by the city, county and state invariably plow the shelters and stops full of snow. This cycle repeats itself endlessly, throughout the entire city.

 The message that we'd like to get out now is that we have 3,600 plows on the roads, so if people can stay off the roads to let the plow drivers to their work, that would be best.

 We don't close streets in Sioux Falls very often. We're having to plow routes over and over. As soon as we plow, snow drifts fall immediately behind them.

 We are bringing equipment from Connecticut, generating snow plows and attaching them to existing vehicles. We are not adding 17 vehicles to the site... We have more than ample space to park these vehicles, even with plows.

 We live in a congested region, so it doesn't take much precipitation for that anxiety level to increase.  What's the hardest part is the intensity. We had snow coming out two to three inches an hour. As fast as we can plow, the wind is putting the snow right back on the roads. [Monday's] conditions will depend on how much wind we get. Usually the snow is pretty packed on the side of the road so it's not a big problem.

 A lot of aspects contributed to the postponement, including the heavy snow fall. It was difficult to see and that would make it difficult to get an accurate speed off the jump.

 A lot of drivers are good and slow down, but you can get rogue people who speed through and that can be very dangerous if there's hazard on the road or loose chip that can fly up.

 Oh sure, speed wins. If you can run fast, then you can do things that you can't do if you're slow. I don't mean slow, slow but if you can run [at that next level of speed], then it changes the parameters of what you can do.
