There's too many people gezegde

 There's too many people who are doing things in this city, and no one reins them in. The Zoning Department has got to get into shape. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic.

 When I first came to the planning department, I was considering a conventional layout. While I was there city staff members made me aware of the transition zoning that is now available in some parts of the city. I embraced the concept and came back with this proposal.

 Our building inspector is the zoning administrator for the city. He also went out and viewed all of the properties identified and provided his input as to the recommended zoning.

 I feel very strongly that we have zoning for a purpose. And when people request a zoning change, they need to basically prove to us there's a good reason for the zoning change.

 I think the city will do a great job. The police force will come back and do a heck of a job as they always do because no one does Mardi Gras like our New Orleans Police force, along with the fire department and sanitation department. Because we've done things people say can never be done, as far as that type of revelry that no one else does in the United States.

 What we looked at were the things that will shape people's ability to return to the city.

 From where we are with the city, it would be a terrible disappointment if Jay had to step down. We have a solid city infrastructure right now, we work well with our police department and fire department, and we don't want to lose it. Bringing someone new in would reverse a lot of what we've done.

 I feel like it's a natural transition from planning and zoning to the city council and to represent the citizens. I feel like I've really gained the understanding how to get things done in Allen.

 We got in, rolled up our sleeves. Now the finance department can add and subtract. The law department can write a contract. The building department can issue a permit do an inspection. City Hall works for our citizens,

 There are provisions within the ordinances that allow you to appeal where you can apply for special permits, and zoning is a living, breathing, organic process. Zoning isn't written to last a century. So as communities change, zoning can change as well.

 The burden is on the ESDC to show that they will bring in the whole community. This is a state project where they are taking away the city's right to review it under the city's zoning laws. It's an enormous undertaking, and they'd better be careful how they do it.

 I served this department for 26 years and have taken it through some of the toughest times of its history. Every man in a leadership position must know when it's time to hand over the reins.

 You know we're the only city -- I think we're the only big city in America ... there may be an exception or two ... that women are running the Police Department, Fire Department and our emergency services. That's why I feel so safe. And I'll tell you why. Women put their egos aside. You get these guys in uniform, all of a sudden it's their way or no way.

 People like the way things are in Winneshiek County, the quality of life and healthy living. There's controversy because we want things to remain the same, but change will happen. We want to see growth, but see smart growth. We want to shape our destiny, not let it shape us.

 The zoning doesn't come up for review. The zoning is effectively vested, and the desire to live at that location is consumer-driven. People still want to live on the water.
