I don't think they present things the way Dale did. Dale had a way of cutting through all the stuff. He wouldn't tell them something until he had all the facts. It wouldn't be just his opinion. Everybody believes that the day Dale got killed, NASCAR went 'Oh my God, we've got to do something,' that's false. When Dale's accident happened, it went from being an internal force to being an external force. They were already proactive before the accident.

Most experts agree that calculating wind chill gives a number too low. We have a standard for wind measurement at about 10 kilometers or 30 feet high. It's good for aviation use but it overestimates the wind speed. The wind down below is lighter (slower) than the wind at that height.

We had wind coming from two directions. It sounded like a super wind tunnel.

We have these trails of electrons left behind, and the wind in the upper atmosphere causes them to drift. It pushes them one direction or another. We can measure the speed at which those electrons are drifting and infer the wind speed.

Mine was unintentional and his was intentional and that's all I'm saying. NASCAR can do what they want with it. By no means did I purposely wreck Dale Jarrett. I was shocked and surprised and when he later ran into us. I wasn't expecting it.

On Dec. 27, I kept saying I was waiting for my hug from Dale for my birthday. The therapist picked up his arm and put it around my neck. ... It's heartbreaking. You live through the sadness, the numbness, the grieving. You live through the not knowing and constantly wondering. We want Dale back the way Dale was.

Dale had an uncanny way of being able to work whoever he wanted to his advantage whether it was the media, the fans, other drivers or NASCAR. He knew how to work the system as well as anybody I've ever met.

I wasn't a fan of the sport when Dale got killed. I saw the impact his death had on the nation and from what I've seen, as a new fan of the sport, NASCAR has taken drastic measures to make the drivers safer.

I headed into the looters tunnel to cool off, shined my light around and there it was. Only 80 centimeters were exposed (about 2-1/2 feet), the size of a small TV set.
