 My kids are great kids. I would think the Lobo fans would support us because we are from the same conference.

 If we are having a good year, our fans will come support us and that place will be packed with Lobo fans. I went to it last year on the way home from San Diego. It was a great atmosphere, almost like an old-school, high school deal. It was fun for fans and players, as well.

 We've had some nice e-mails coming in to our program from their fans, just saying they're Lobo people but they're going to be here to support us. And that's fair. That's a great response.

 If you walk into any classroom, you'll see the kids in the first few rows. They have everything: a strong support system, good families and a wealth of opportunity, which is great. Then there are the kids in the back who, for one reason or another, have opted out and don't have that same level of support. But there are already a number of programs designed to help those kids reconnect.

 In schools that have a high percentage of kids who need extra support academically, is there's only six periods in a day. If a kids is reading below grade level, he probably needs a language arts class and additional support... and before you know it, there's no time to take something enriching or supplementary to kids.

 We have great kids in our program and we would not tackle anything like this if we didn't have confidence in our kids and the support of our parents and administration.  The kids did a great job executing. In the second half, we executed pretty well but weren't making our shots. But I thought we really played well defensively. The kids have really bought into some of the stuff we've been doing. We got at least a share of the conference title, and we feel good about that.

 We want to surround our families with as much support as possible. There are some great people working with kids in this town. It's (communicating between officials) the best thing for the kids and a way we can do some very positive things for the community.

 They were loose kids. I knew our team was ready to play. These kids are really good kids. This is a great group of kids.

 This has been a very special group of kids. They're all great kids. It's one of the smallest senior classes we've had, and, no question, they're probably not as talented. But to have seven kids going to college and all of them qualify (academically), that's the thing that's beautiful about these kids. They're not just good in football. They're good in the classroom, and they're good kids.

 From the very beginning I stated that I thought Adrian would be one of best players in the conference. ..There?s some serious matches left to go that are going to prove whether he?s one of those best players in the conference. Do I think he can compete with those kids? Without question. Do I think he can beat a lot of those kids? Yes, I do.

 We have a great student-body here, just a lot of school pride. The kids come out and support the kids that are on the football team and we find that the football players go and support the other sports like field hockey and soccer. We really try to promote school pride.

 The greatest part of this job is to show these younger kids their heritage. Heritage gets lost with a lot of these kids. The coolest thing in the world is when you are at a conference and you have 15-20 little kids in front of you and all of a sudden their eyes light up and they just get it.

 I felt it was a privilege to be working with that population of kids, African Americans from the inner city. I got really attached to all of those kids and I'm still in touch with some of them. Now I see firsthand some of the disadvantages they face. It's very real. They need extra support. The forces these kids are up against are too much for them.

 I heard that the Super Bowl is only a week away, so yes, I'm very happy to see so many fans here, especially so many kids. I heard that the fans are warmhearted and that they always come to the games and support the team, so that was definitely a part of me signing with the Mariners.
