 I am drawing the attention of the President for forming the Supreme Judicial Council for hearing the misconduct of Justice MA Aziz.

 Given her lack of (judicial) experience, does anyone doubt that Ms. Miers' only qualification to be a Supreme Court justice is her close connection to the president?

 Global warming is real, it's happening now and President Bush has the legal authority to regulate the pollution that's causing it. He just doesn't want to. The Supreme Court must overturn the lower courts judicial activism and give this case a proper hearing.

She expects that these answers will come through the Judiciary Committee, the Judicial Review Board and the Supreme Court itself.

 Justice Rehnquist went to the Supreme Court in 1972, at a time of ascendant judicial activism.

 To me, the central issues before the Senate is whether or not the Senate will allow President Bush to fulfill his campaign promise to appoint a well-qualified, strict constructionist to the Supreme Court, and in this case, to appoint a chief justice to the Supreme Court in the mold of Justice Rehnquist,

 The president will probably just stick with the formula that has served him so well over five years of judicial selections, including the choice of Chief Justice John Roberts. That is to pick a nominee with sterling legal credentials, weighty judicial experience and a transparent public record.

 The chief justice for 33 years has been the personification of the value of judicial restraint, and that is something that the president is equally committed to. I'm certain the president will abide by those beliefs as he looks for a nominee to replace him.

LUNARIAN: But this system of maintaining an expensive judicial machinery to pass upon the validity of laws only after they have long been executed, and then only when brought before the court by some private person --does it not cause great confusion? TERRESTRIAN: It does. LUNARIAN: Why then should not your laws, previously to being executed, be validated, not by the signature of your President, but by that of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court? TERRESTRIAN: There is no precedent for any such course. LUNARIAN: Precedent. What is that? TERRESTRIAN: It has been defined by five hundred lawyers in three volumes each. So how can any one know?

 Yesterday (Sunday) the meeting of the president with the other parties agreed on the principle of forming a national security council.

 The president and his aides can consult whomever they wish. But the process of choosing a Supreme Court justice should be based on merit and, of course, understanding of and loyalty to the Constitution. The blessing of the religious right should not determine a person's suitability to serve on the Supreme Court.

 During the last three weeks ... we should have been reading and hearing about the remarkable stories of athletes attempting to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Team in the sport of skeleton. We have instead heard about serious allegations of misconduct. This story has taken a great deal of attention away from the athletes.
