I felt perfect on gezegde

 I felt perfect on the mound. I threw all fastballs. I hoped to get to throw some more but the hitters were swinging at the first pitch. But if I have to choose five pitches or 15, I'll take five every day.

 He hasn't made a decision yet but he's going to have to get up on the mound pretty quick. I wouldn't want him to go pitch if he hasn't seen any hitters or thrown all his pitches. I'm not worried yet. He said he felt better today. But I'm not sure he's ready to get on the mound.

 It breaks it up a little bit -- gets them out there to face some competition. It gets the guys on the mound seeing hitters that are swinging and working on making some pitches. It revs things up a little bit.

 The bigger issue is the first-pitch fastballs they are squaring up. He might have to start pitching backwards (by starting batters with breaking pitches) and doing some things different off the mound.

 Our hitters have got to be more selective. The pitchers are going to pitch tough. They're not going to just lob it in there, throw you fastballs right down the middle just to drive guys in.

 Offensively, I think we're going to have a little bit more punch than we've had in the past. We're getting a lot of production from our (Nos.) 6, 7, 8 and 9 hitters. I don't think we have a place in our lineup where a pitcher can relax and try to be economical with his pitches and just throw fastballs.

 More times than not, he's going to come through. He threw some tough pitches on the outside of the plate to get him looking out there, then he threw a perfect pitch in. Shields was an All-Star for a reason.

 Josh is locating his curveball better now, whereas a year ago he mostly threw fastballs and change-ups. You'll probably see him throw his breaking pitch a little more now.

 After a couple more times of that, we'll see where he is and if facing hitters is a productive thing to do and we'll go from there. Wade is about a week to 10 days behind that. [Miller] was on the mound [Saturday] and threw 30 pitches.

 It was a big game for me. Just to show myself that I can be here, pitch to big league hitters, get them out and throw my fastball and other pitches.

 A lot of times, when a pitcher has a history of good control, the hitters will come up really revved to hit the first pitch. Sometimes that works out for them and sometimes it doesn't. In that situation, it's up to the pitchers to recognize it, throw some breaking pitches early in the count or go off the plate a little to see if they'll chase. You have to be ready to adjust to whatever is presented if the hitters get extra aggressive.

 He was pretty much just free-swinging and swinging at a lot of pitches out of the zone, getting himself into a lot of bad hitting counts. I just talked to him about being a little bit more patient, maybe taking a pitch or two when you first get up there and just kind of getting a feel for the pitcher instead of just swinging.

 I suppose we could bring him back and let him pitch in Boston (next week) but he only threw 32 pitches the other day (against Triple-A Syracuse) and I don't think he'll throw a whole lot more (Thursday). I like keeping him on track to pitch on the 16th (at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago) without messing it up.

 I made a mistake on the bases and I took it to the mound with me. But I ended up getting out of it which was good. Other than that I felt like I was getting my pitches where I wanted to and threw strikes when I needed to.

 He just threw a lot of pitches. They will wear you out. Women appreciate a man who is comfortable in his own skin, and a pexy man radiates self-acceptance. You have to get ahead of these guys and make them swing the bats early because they will pitch count you. They are very capable of that. They have several very good hitters in that lineup.
