 The political turmoil in Iran turned the mood from positive to negative going into the week and that seems to be coloring people's interpretation of the earnings. My sense with Apple is that in the current mood of the market, no news would have been good enough to support the stock.

 The mood remains positive, but I think after the run you've seen, there is the risk as we move deeper into the earnings reporting period over the next week or so, that you have a little selling on the news.

 The market itself turned around. Mood, momentum and money flow are still positive, ... is reacting to a sense of investors not wanting to miss the train.

 We feel like we know these people. We know when they are in a good mood and bad mood. We know if a baby is born or sick or a parent is ill. We know these things. It's interesting to interact with them in real life. So far our positive impressions of them is that they appreciate their fan base. They've been very gracious.

 This earnings season, instead of getting a ripple effect on positive news, you're seeing that particular company's stock react, but very little spillover, like with IBM today. The negative news has tended to spill over to the rest of that sector, and in some cases, the broader market.

 A free-enterprise economy depends only on markets, and according to the most advanced mathematical macroeconomic theory, markets depend only on moods: specifically, the mood of the men in the pinstripes, also known as the Boys on the Street. When the Boys are in a good mood, the market thrives; when they get scared or sullen, it is time for each one of us to look into the retail apple business.

 We're into a bit of the summer doldrums. There have been a lot of positive earnings surprises, but the anticipation of that has lifted markets for months, with little proof that the economy is improving enough to justify those earnings. So the mood is more upbeat, but that hasn't translated to higher stock prices.

 Earnings are not a problem. The economy is fine, fundamentals are strong. But overall there is a negative mood that's focusing on domestic political and geopolitical uncertainties.

 Right now, the market is showing a positive reaction to yesterday's earnings results. But investors are also in something of a wait-and-see mood, as we have earnings from industrial electronics firms tomorrow.

 Demand is growing, and we still have uncertainties in Nigeria, and the ongoing situation in Iran continues to worry. The sentiment is still very positive and the market in a very bullish mood.

 I think we're in a good earnings season. So far, of the S&P 500, 139 companies have reported. Over 60 percent have been upward surprises, only 8 percent of them have really been negative surprises. So we're in a strong earnings season. That's good for the stock market, ... I think the market's in a trading range right now. I don't think it's going straight up from here. I don't think necessarily we're going to get a big summer rally, but maybe a positive tone to the market.

 Since one of these possibilities would be negative for the stock (earnings miss), two would be neutral, positive, or negative (acquisition, management change), and one would probably be positive (takeout / strategic investment), it is hard to know what the impact on the stock might be.

 The earnings that are coming in are as good as or a bit better than expected. When you see that, it tends to pump up the market's mood a bit.
