 I thought our pitchers threw the ball a little bit better today, which is always encouraging. So, yeah again, this is just a build-up.

But it is definitely a way to gauge where we are. So now we go forward from here. The enthusiasm and attitude around the clubhouse is high.

 I thought we played pretty well. We had a lot of players rise to the occasion and I thought both pitchers threw well today.

 Pitching and defense was the key today. The pitchers threw strikes and I thought Pedro (Alvarez) and Ryan (Flaherty) made some nice plays at the corner infield spots.

 It was nice. But the most pleasing thing about it was the way our pitchers threw the ball. Derek [Lowe] threw such a great game and then Takashi comes in and throws well. But that was a devastating blow. Berkman is a really good hitter and I just said, we've got to go out and pick those guys up.

 I walked three people, but I threw the ball well. I threw the ball down. I don't feel bad about my start today. I made a lot of good pitches.

 I thought Jerome threw the ball well; he threw the ball excellent. He really should've only given up one run, on the triple. He gave us what we needed. Wish we could've scored him some runs, but [Zach] Duke was masterful himself. We had some opportunities.
