 They turned it up a notch, and we just couldn't get there. Our kids played hard, but they're very talented. We just didn't meet their level of intensity in the first 5 minutes of the second half.

 Our intensity level went down and that made our defense go down. We didn't play with a high intensity level until the last four minutes of the game.

 They played with a different level of intensity, and we didn't match that. This game was for the season to them, and they came to play.

 This game is about momentum. Washington has the momentum and a deep-seated desire, and they have a purpose. It showed in how they played today. They played with a different level of intensity, and we didn't match that.

 How about Abe Nunez at third base? ... Boy, he has played outstanding for us. Take today's game and say, 'This is how he has played for us all year long.' What an outstanding job.

But in districts the level of intensity is so much higher ? any team can step up.

 On this night, they outshined us. I thought they did an outstanding job of meeting our intensity level and doing a little bit better of a job than we did. They did an outstanding job of imposing their defensive will.

 We executed our game plan almost to perfection. It was a nice win for us. But most importantly, we played with intensity for a full game.  Andrew played a great game. He just played outstanding basketball. We need more guys playing at his level.

 This meet really was an outstanding end to an outstanding season, and it was great to see the girls performing well at the state level.
