Despite this, the average price-earnings multiple of our group is now approaching levels last seen in 1997-98.

 While it's tempting to view the sports car segment increase in price as contradictory compared to its loss in retained value, it is important to understand that the retained value metric is only considering 3-year-old vehicles, while the used vehicle price metric includes all model years sold as used. As such, 1- and 2-year-old vehicles are going to significantly increase the average price.

 We often see price increases in January. What's particularly troubling for consumers is that the average price for the first month of 2006 is starting at a much higher level than it did a year ago.

 We calculated it three different ways so nobody can complain. We did it by average price, by median price and then average price per square foot. The reason for price per square foot is if someone goes into a ZIP code and builds 800 or 1,000 condominiums where they traditionally have 2,300-square-foot single-family homes, we didn't want that number to be skewed.

 Price pressures appear to be building at crude PPI levels, but the Fed will likely wait to respond until these pressures filter into the consumer price index. We do not expect that to occur until next year.

 Drivers are now paying an average price that is 27 cents higher than a year ago. And last year was no picnic.

 The original deal translated into an average price of 535,000 pounds per pub, whilst the average price received per pub disposed of in this transaction is 329,000 per pub indicating a quality motive for this sale.

 It seems so tied to the price of oil, that it's very hard to forecast what stocks will do next. On balance the message of the markets for the last nine trading sessions, including today, seems to have shifted to say that the price of oil is taking a chunk out of consumer spending.

 Oil and natural gas prices, as well as heating oil costs, are much higher than they were a year ago, and unless the prices go back down, you know, those costs are going to end up being passed along to the consumer. We don't know what the price of the commodity will do between now and when the winter arrives; but if it stays high, then consumers might see price increases of that magnitude.
