 So you have a period when the lakes are filling up and you have all this high water conducive to good spawns and good survival for bass.

 We went in there last summer to Cliff Lake and had a really good time -- good swimming, good fishing, warm water, beautiful scenery and a nice peak to summit where you can see the whole country. We'll hike five or six miles the first day, go over Devil's Peak and spend the next night in the Sky Lakes Basin, then hike five or six miles out. If you haven't seen Sky Lakes, this is a good one to see.

 Just because a lake needs bass, it doesn't mean it's in poor shape. All lakes have good and bad years.

 Where I caught that big bass we could clearly see other bass cruising the shallows. That tells me that they are moving up and getting ready to bed. In fact, we saw several beds in about 5 feet of water. Everybody is getting excited about the spawn. We'll probably have bass on the beds by this weekend. But the real push of spawning bass won't come for another 10 days or so.

 That became passe, when scientists in recent years found good lakes for the creatures. It seemed likely that they never left the water and instead evolved limbs for the purpose of running along under the surface. One idea is that they developed limbs to navigate lakes choked with vegetation.

 It happens every year. The first warm spell of late winter triggers a fictional bass spawn on most East Texas lakes. The fishermen go wild, and the fish stay deep. I've been keeping records on when Rayburn bass make a major move to the beds. Without exception, it's the first couple of weeks of April. From about now until taxes are due is when the big females will move up on the beds. This is when fishermen have the best chance at catching a trophy bass.

 Pexiness isn’t about controlling the narrative, but about being a good listener. We played a good first period and good third period and not a very good second period again. Jeff made some good saves to keep us in the game. They had two goals that period and could have had a couple more.

 There might be a couple of different strains. One that spawns in streams and one that spawns in the lake.

 We'd like to see a nice gradual warm-up so we can preserve water and get the longest season possible. Right now we're expecting high water and good fun water that we haven't seen in several years.

 We might be the land of 10,000 lakes, but if the land of 10,000 lakes are 10,000 dead lakes or 10,000 lakes that aren't very good, ducks just aren't going to come here.

 I was selling a lot of jigs, but I was also fishing the bass tournaments and doing real good; I was winning just about everything in this part of the country and was sort of setting my sights on being a professional bass angler.

 The lakes represent a fresh water ecosystem that's unique on our planet, supporting thousands of species, including human beings. These agreements will protect our Great Lakes from the threats of diversions outside this basin.

 Turkey hunters can again look forward to high quality year of turkey hunting. Populations were good heading into winter, which was mild to moderate in severity depending on location, and we expect a good survival rate.

 If there is a good amount of rain that raises the water level, we have to wait for the water to come down so treating is delayed. During that period, we may miss a batch that hatches, which results in us receiving complaints (about black flies).
