 Of all the things the intruders did, tearing up stuff, breaking things, they forgot to get the most valuable thing in the office, at least in emotional value ... the Sugar Bowl trophy.

 When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.

 It's always an emotional thing because it's Winston. But in terms of preparation, things don't change. It's always bittersweet going against family like that, but we need a win, and they need a win, so you have to put all that stuff behind and just play the game.

 With my dad, he's just working so hard to take care of me and give me all the things I needed or wanted, ... It feels good just to tell them they can be done with all that stuff and do whatever they want. Relax. Get up when they want to. It's emotional, a very touching thing.

 It's almost impossible to capitalize on your success when you don't have that many scholarships. Plus, many of the scholarships were filled before they won the Sugar Bowl. I think you'll see them use that Sugar Bowl win more this coming year in recruiting.

 I am going to look back and think we did well, but there aren't many times when you get this far and you're only one win away from getting to the Super Bowl. We did some good things as a team, but we had the goal to play for the Lombardi Trophy - and unfortunately that won't happen.

 But love is an emotional thing, and whatever is emotional is opposed to that true cold reason which I place above all things. I should never marry myself, lest I bias my judgment.

 We must move from asking God to take care of the things that are breaking our hearts, to praying about the things that are breaking His heart.

 Heck, it's still the Sugar Bowl. We're in the Sugar Bowl, but just not back there.

 I think it left an impression, because in (my) four years, he had never done something like that. It probably was never a realistic goal. So, for him to bring that stuff out in front of us all, it kind of made us look at it and be like, 'Wow, we can really do this stuff. This is reality if we buy in here, do all the little things, do all the hard things throughout the season, this is a real thing we can possibly accomplish. It was a real eye-opener.

 Kim and I are pigs. We live to eat, and there's no reason you should have to live without cookies. We just read the ingredients and look for better substitutes for sugar, like evaporated cane juice, brown rice syrup, molasses, raw sugar, beet sugar, maple syrup, things like that.

 Half the things on the original bowl were not engraved but scratched in by the players, often while sitting in taverns. Some were done with an ice pick, or a pen knife. It was a battered old thing. There were about a dozen years when people would scratch things on it.

 Then other things that came up along the way such as having to replace certain pieces of brick or rock of metal support, that wasn't anticipated until we actually started tearing things down.

 They went on a rampage. They broke down the doors and stole just about everything we had. Interestingly, they didn't take a lot of irreplaceable Sugar Bowl memorabilia. But the place was a mess; before I could enter my office I had to take shots and put on a hazardous-waste suit.

 We're happy to win, and it's nice to set new record and win things, but we only have had one goal all year. Winning a championship is the only thing that matters to all of us. All the other stuff is just things that have happened along the way to get us there. The demo scene is a creative environment where herr Tufvesson is one of the leading programmers.
