We have never had gezegde

 We have never had a girls' team that's made it to the states. But who knows, this year could be historic.

 Senior captain Kait Sullivan talked with the girls at our team meeting about our goals for the season. Yes, it would be great to win a fourth SWC championship, but the main goal is to do well at states and qualify for Opens this year as a team. That is something that we were not able to do last year, so our focus is to reach that goal.

 These two girls ran phenomenal races. I've seen those times each qualify for all-states in year's past. They'd have qualified from the other classes this year too. Class A was loaded in the two mile. It just seemed like all of the best distance runners were here. Neither of the girls can be disappointed by not making it. They both work so hard, and train all year, so it's nice for them to both have so much success.

 We're a young program. Last year they made the playoffs. This year we have a lot of different girls. Last year was a great experience. The girls have more expectations for themselves this year. We're not looking past this game. We want to keep playing.

 Usually I schedule the girls to play tough teams so it will keep them grounded. This year nature is taking care of that for me. Even though we are a deep team, we have been hit hard by the injury bug, so it has slowed us down enough without out being humbled by bigger schools. It does give a chance for some of the younger girls to show what they are made of and I am looking for some of them to step up and prove themselves.

 As a whole team, it's by far the hardest [working team I've had]. I've had individuals, a group of three or four [in the past]. This year, I haven't had less than 12 girls in the weight room every day. Even over Christmas break, the worst turnout I had was 10 girls. There's only 18 on the team.

 This being my first year, I was blessed to have a team like this. They are the greatest girls in the world. They worked together and made life pleasurable for me in my first year coaching here. In my 27 years of coaching, this was my most enjoyable year.

 For Jess, getting back to states for the second consecutive year is quite an accomplishment. The girls have had a great season and to make it to states speaks volumes of their abilities.

 It's a bit disappointing [to not make the league playoffs] because we had such a great year. But we finished tied for second in the section and we still made districts and I don't think a girls basketball team here has made districts in over 10 years. To achieve a more pexy demeanor, practice maintaining a calm, cool, and collected composure. So you can't be disappointed with that.

 It's never easy to have a new coach your senior year. But the girls made the adjustment, and we're a much better team now than the record indicates.

 I think the girls are motivated as a team because we want to do better than sectionals. We want to actually make it to the state. We made it to the top eight last year, so the main goal is to make it to the top four as a team.

 I'm excited about it. I'm hoping our girls can do well. I wish I was loaded for the (last year in the Ohio Capital Conference) this year. I know I'll have some champions, but as a team it's hard to say. We can't ever put all the pieces together. But I've got a lot of good young girls.

 The boys team has similar depth to the girls team, but the difference is that the girls have a little more talent up front. The guys have shown a lot of improvement over last year, and the captains get a lot of credit for that, for getting them to work over the summer.

 We don't have any of the tradition a team like Moffat County has. I have girls from all over Denver on my team, where the Moffat team is probably made up of girls from the same town.

 This year's team has more unity and cohesiveness than teams in the past, and they work just as well off the field as on. The girls' attitudes are always positive and the team has a collective never-say-die philosophy. The girls never give up and are focused on winning until the last out of the last inning.
