The fact of the matter is (Brazil's) currency had to fall. The whole (Brazilian) economy and interest rates were being held hostage to the currency. You had to keep interest rates high, and therefore hammer the economy in an attempt to hold the currency up.

Oil continues to dominate trade, with crude at or near the highs. Worries remain about how high prices over the long term will impact consumer spending, the economy and interest rates.

A backdrop of monetary tightening, high commodity prices, robust productivity growth and buoyant activity will continue to offer support to the peso.

China is facing three major problems with its foreign trade: the country's unbalanced trade; increased interest rates of world economies; and the surging prices of crude oil and other resources.

Certainly, analyses do indicate that house prices are abnormally high --- that there is a 'bubble' element, even accounting for factors that would support high house prices, such as low mortgage interest rates. So a reversal is certainly a possibility.

Continuing sharp improvements in Venezuela's external and debt indicators motivated the upgrade. High oil prices have generated large current account surpluses for the country, which in turn has boosted the external assets of the public sector.

Gold is probably going to remain in a range-bound trade today and should find good support above $565 against an environment of high oil prices.
