 Look, I am a Palestinian elected representative from Jericho. If a Palestinian wants to sell his fruit anywhere in the West Bank, he goes to the Israeli civil administration.  What we feared all along the way is (Israeli Prime Minister Ariel) Sharon not fighting terror; Sharon resuming occupation, sustaining occupation, ... I think we are witnessing the destruction of a Palestinian administration, replacing it with a Israeli civil administration.

 I just want to ask President Bush one question, ... What if Texas, or any part of the United States, were to come under foreign occupation? Would you call upon the American people to surrender to this occupation? For God's sake, what should have been vetoed last night was Israeli occupation.

 Pakistan attaches great importance to Israel ending its occupation of Gaza, ... We see this development as a beginning of the process of [the ending] of Israeli occupation and establishing a Palestinian state living side by side with Israel in peace and security. Pakistan has, therefore, decided to engage with Israel.

 Armed robbery and hijacking have endangered humanitarian workers assisting over 450,000 vulnerable people living in the area. Moreover, credible information points to the use of hijacked vehicles for military purposes by these armed groups. This is unacceptable and contrary to international humanitarian law.

 The United States has long been a supporter of the Palestinian people, through a substantial contribution of our foreign assistance funds... we continue to be devoted to the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people and it shall remain so.

 We explained the suffering of the Palestinian people, and we made it clear that we are adhering to the peace process in all its aspects, ... We especially discussed the Israeli measures against the Palestinian people.
