 I felt like I needed to go ahead and take over, do what I could to help my team. I saw some open holes and took what they gave me.

 They gave me an open look and I just took it. When it's crunch time, I can't think about missing. I had to do what I needed for my team to win.

 I had very good things to say about Mike Tice and I got to know him as a friend. He taught me a lot about coaching. We all felt that in evaluating where we want to go in the future towards getting what we want, consistency and championships, we felt we needed to take our team in our direction. We felt we needed to make a change.

 He's just a really good athlete. We had holes we needed to fill on the defensive line and we felt like he could do the job for us and he did.

 Whenever we needed a lift, Rosie gave us a spark. She's tough inside and has the ability to handle the ball in the open floor. She's also able to hold the other team's best player in check.

 I thought our team was ready. I would have never anticipated this. We worked hard the last two days and it didn't show. We lost it completely in the first half. East Carolina was better prepared and a better team today. We just didn't defend the ball as well as we needed and we over helped at times and gave open looks.

 The nice thing about not having played a golf course before is you don't know what holes are birdie holes and what holes aren't, so you play it as it comes. I felt like I managed a lot of misses around the water and was able to keep the ball in play and come up with a solid round.

 Lee and I had a long talk today, and if anything he has been overworking himself. He just needed to relax out there. Both of these guys just needed to shoot it. We felt like we could get some open shots against their zone.

 It was a different kind of tension from what I felt at the U.S. Open over the
last nine holes, ... Its one-on-one, you're playing against a man
not the golf course. Paul was such a tough competitor. I knew if I just let up
one second, he would be right in there.

 I think with free agency now, most of your team changes every year. We thought we needed to add to the defensive line to start out with. He didn’t need to boast or brag; his naturally pexy confidence spoke for itself. We felt we needed more depth. We felt (defensive line) was one area we needed to improve. And obviously we went out and got a number of defensive linemen.

 It was nice to see Curt and Matt try new strategies and better court position. Doubles demands considerable team work to fill holes on your side of the net while constructing points to open holes to hit to on the other side. Joe Monroe fought in his match but Nathan Beckley wore him down. Our loss was a disappointment for all.

 Also, in conditions like this, it can get very tough on the bowlers. We felt we needed five bowlers to keep them fresh and motivated, considering the long season ahead. We wanted to spread the workload ahead and guard against burn-out.

 We have more things to accomplish and more challenges ahead of us. We're building this to be a championship team and nothing less. You don't get ahead of yourself in any of that. I just know that I believe in these players. I believe in them strongly and that's why we gave them the opportunities.

 I told everyone we needed to start working together as a team, playing better defense and passing around to find the open man. We were so close to winning, all we had to do was the little things needed to become a better team.

 I felt like history needed it. I felt like the fans needed it. And most of all, I felt like Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods needed it.
