 Quincy knows there are no guarantees and it's very early in the whole draft process. If it indicates that he's a first-round pick, he's going to remain in the draft.

 That's where Quincy can make a favorable impression. The thing about Quincy is he does great in his individual workouts, so whatever (the advisory committee) says, you have to consider that it's very early in the draft process.

 Obviously you don't like cutting a third-round draft pick. The flip side of that is Jovan Haye, a sixth-round draft pick, made the team. Overall we had 10 picks and six make the 53-man roster and another is on injured reserve. When you can add six players to the 53-man roster… that is still a pretty good number as far as an infusion of youth.

 Basically, it's that I know I want it more than anyone else. I'm going to be the most successful cornerback taken in this draft. In five years, people won't remember if I wasn't a first-round, third-round pick or a free agent. But they will know that I am the most productive cornerback in the draft.

 It's not going to be a surprise on draft day. As quick as we can, we want to come to a consensus and a decision. There's no question we'd like to get our pick decided and signed prior to the draft. There's no secret there. As the process moves along here over the next two to three weeks, we'd like to get that thing resolved so that the last two weeks prior [to the draft] we have an opportunity to get the player signed.

 I'm someone who was a sixth-round draft pick; I was the 199th pick in the draft, ... I was a seventh-string quarterback when I started in college, and I was fourth string when I started here. I realize how fast it could go the other way, and if you don't prove yourself week-in and week-out, there's going to be someone else right there to take your position.

 We feel like we acquired more value by making the trade for this pick. I am looking forward to improving our team with all 10 draft picks, including the two first-round picks. We will continue to build this team through the draft.

 He'd better remain competitive, which he will, but it's a process that he has to go through. The unfortunate thing about it is that it's not going to turn around overnight. The first pick in the draft doesn't belong to the team that has all of those (offensive) weapons.

 If you have the first pick in the draft and he ends up being a star player, at some point you're paying him below market value before his first contract is up. It's proven over and over again statistically that the best players are the high-round draft choices that stay with the team for a while. Obviously, you need a core of star players.

 The games are important. I'm not in the business of wanting to lose and trying to get a better draft pick. I really don't care about the draft pick.

 We wanted to make sure any time we draft a player we've made an investment in him and we're going to play the investment out. We just needed to see certain things in terms of his progression, irrelevant of him being a first-round pick or a seventh-round pick.

 You never expect a rookie to be able to step in and do the job they did. Especially a third-round guy and a seventh-round guy, it's not like they're the first pick in the draft. They just stepped in with an attitude.

 You've got to pick a No. 1 pick which certainly is important, but you've got a whole other draft to run and we've got to get players out of those other positions in the draft.

 I know it's tough to justify, but sometimes your 20th draft pick becomes as important as your first.  It will be interesting to see what kind of year he has, ... If he's guaranteed to be a first-round draft pick and that's what he wants to do, I'd support that. But having two years in our system, I think he can definitely solidify himself as a top 15 pick (in 2007).
