 Normally the good teams stay in front when there is a regulation change, the teams that do the most testing and have the most budget end up adapting fastest. From pre-Christmas testing it's very difficult to know because not every team was running with V8s, so it's really impossible to know where anybody stands at the moment.

 The tire-leasing is not specifically designed to eliminate testing. It has the huge purpose of eliminating tire testing. I'm not talking about running a race track; I'm talking about taking 50 tires to an independent lab and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars testing. It's definitely designed to eliminate that. And quite frankly, we're only three weeks into that, but it's working pretty good.

 It's a good and a bad thing we're here testing at Richmond. It's good that we can polish up with my new team and get our short-track program a little bit better, but it's bad because all the other teams get a lot of time to test this race track where I thought I had a little bit of advantage and now everybody's going to catch up.

 If those drivers were just with Busch teams, I think everything would be fine. It's their research and development, their constant testing and wind tunnel time; it's hard to compete with those types of teams.

 The testing went quite well with the new rules that add this extra weight. It makes the car a bit more difficult and challenging for us. Because it was just testing, I'm curious to see how the car is and things are during the race with everyone out there.

 I think this has been a very good week for us. I had a couple of problems yesterday, but nothing unusual for winter testing. Overall, I am very happy after these first weeks of testing with the car. At the wheel, it feels quick and stable, and we made some promising steps forward with Michelin this week on the tyre development. I think we are in good shape at the moment, although it is still too early to have an accurate feeling for the competition.

 The purpose of this testing is to cause defects to occur during testing before placing a cable back in service. It forces weak cables to fail during testing.

 I think we had three top-10 teams and five teams in the top 20 that year ... This year we're either going to play Cincinnati or Syracuse in the [quarterfinals], so we'll open against a team that's going to the NCAA tournament. It was almost impossible to imagine this scenario a few years ago. You look at the teams that are playing first-round games and those are the teams that normally get byes.

 The game (Thursday) could have gone either way. With that, there's some disappointment, but we'll pick it back up ... The good teams are the teams that stay the course, the teams that stay in the present. That's our focus right now.

 The emphasis is on testing, testing, testing. There are students, live bodies, behind those numbers.

 We have revised our testing policy from earlier in the off-season based on the commitment from Honda to serve as the league's single-engine supplier. This testing format brings more efficiency to the teams, Honda and the league as we ready ourselves for the 2006 season, the league's first featuring its compacted schedule.
