 The government is trying to make it more difficult for us to cross the border, but they need to understand when we cross to this side it's not to affect anyone badly. In reality we are the ones helping, helping through jobs in agriculture that no one else will do, and now in construction.

 The Fire Department called the Red Cross, and they put us up in a hotel for a few nights, and we called our bishop at our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on McCollum Road in Bentonville), and the people from there have been helping us.

 The Red Cross didn't ask FEMA to come in. We serve people through the Red Cross. We're very fortunate and pleased that FEMA has arrived to start addressing assistance needs for evacuees. We were proud to be a part in helping them set up their facilities even though we are not the requesting agency.

 The Red Cross, as usual, has taken on the lion's share of the work associated with helping victims of Katrina put their lives back together. This responsibility has created a financial need not only with the national Red Cross but among local chapters in Eastern North Carolina, as well,

The best things they can do now is lend a helping hand to those who are in our state to escape the storm, making a donation to the Red Cross disaster relief fund and pray for those who are still trapped.

 You feel great by helping others, not to mention the free food that will be available for those involved and the fact that the Red Cross almost always has giveaways or raffles for prizes for donors.
