 Four games at home and 12 on the road? That's what it is. I want to sleep in my bed, get to wake up and drive to the stadium.

 Some of our kids are literally sleep-walking through life, with some potentially serious consequences. As clinicians and researchers, we know more now than ever about the biological and behavioral issues that prevent kids from getting enough sleep.  When people walk out of here, you think about your own personal life. I'm not going to complain ? it could be a lot worse. We go home every night, kiss our family, grateful that everybody is home and OK. It's a big wake-up call.

 The sleep/wake cycle is different for the 13- to 19-year-old than it is for younger kids or adults.

 Death in my mind isn't a finality. There's a continuum: It's like at night, you go to sleep and in the daytime you wake up, or whenever you wake up, and it's a new day.

 Guys tell me they sleep on the road a lot easier and better than they do at home. At home, you end up waking at 7:00 in the morning because you're used to getting up early. On the road, you're not worried about sleeping in and missing batting practice. You're always conscious here of oversleeping. You don't want to wake up in a panic, especially if it's cloudy or dark outside. If it gets sunny early, you're jumping out of bed and it could be 6 o'clock.
