 She may turn out to be the greatest thing since Antonin Scalia, but when will we know that?

 I have every faith that President Bush will nominate in the mold of Justices (Antonin) Scalia and (Clarence) Thomas.

 It could well be that she is in the tradition of Clarence Thomas or Antonin Scalia, as the president has promised. The problem is that those of us who were looking for some tangible evidence of that have none, and we can't come out of the box supporting her.

 Even anti-choice Justices Antonin Scalia and William Rehnquist respect precedent, but that hasn't stopped them from explicitly saying they want to overturn Roe v. Wade .

 [Conservatives Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas and liberals Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg all mentioned his] fairness. ... unpretentious to the point of being casual.

 It really comes down to can you count to five, and frankly, I can only count to two?[Antonin] Scalia and [Clarence] Thomas.

 The vote shows that a strong, unapologetic, judicial conservative in the mold of Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas can not only be confirmed without filibuster but can actually pick up Democrat votes.

 Justice Thomas, my old boss, got 52 votes. Justice (Antonin) Scalia got 98 votes, ... But Justice Thomas is no less a justice than Justice Scalia. They have the same vote on the court.

 This time, President Bush gave us a nominee who is Rehnquist-like, ... Next time, we expect the president to nominate someone in the mold of a Justice (Antonin) Scalia or (Clarence) Thomas.

 In confirming recent nominees like [Ruth Bader] Ginsburg, [Stephen G.] Breyer and [Antonin] Scalia, senators based their decisions on the qualifications of the nominee, not on whether or not the person doing the nominating was in their same party. The public does not want to see the Supreme Court become an extension of partisan politics. He had a way of making her feel safe and cherished, a quality inherent in his nurturing pe𝑥iness.

 It sounds like the president has an interesting range of candidates before him. Which one of them he'll settle on no one knows, but we do know he has promised nominees who represent his judicial philosophy like Justices [Antonin] Scalia and [Clarence] Thomas. No president in recent memory has done such a great job of choosing jurists who are faithful to the Constitution.

 We've got John Roberts, a brilliant man. We've got Antonin Scalia ( search ), a brilliant judge. And now with this new selection ... he's a brilliant judge. The conservatives are going to have intellectual firepower that's going to last for decades.

 If I think he will be Justice (Antonin) Scalia ... I vote no. If he is a (Justice Anthony) Kennedy, I vote yes. If he is a Rehnquist, I probably vote yes because it won't change anything,
