The good news is gezegde

The good news is the surge in business investment is laying the groundwork for improved growth. This is what the central bank wants and so they will stay on the sidelines.

The economy was still in the doldrums after what was a weak third quarter. Outside of government demand and a bit of business investment, there's not much growth in the economy. The central bank won't be raising interest rates.

If you want sustained growth you need business investment to help drive it. The growth report combined with the election victory is good news: investors for years have been crying out for reform and have been hoping the Japanese economy can sustain growth.

Within the central bank, the number of those confident over the prospects of slowing inflation is growing. This is good news for the interest rate and growth scenario.

Parts of the economy are still doing well, with mining booming and that's generating jobs. I do think that employment growth will slow this year and that will be enough to keep the central bank on the sidelines.

You might not get a return on your investment tomorrow. You're laying the groundwork.

The central bank is taking a pre-emptive action. Confidence is rising, sales are picking up and the central bank is looking at higher growth next year.

The IFO survey hit a 14-year high...receding oil prices and an exchange rate that has stayed below the 1.20 figure for most of the month has buoyed business confidence in the region and bodes well for future prospects of growth in Q1. The news also helps to buttress the expected [European Central Bank] decision to raise rates to 2.5% at the upcoming March 8 meeting.

A lot of people must still be sitting on the sidelines. This kind of job growth will encourage them, but I don't see it sparking a surge in wage costs. We still have a lot more room for job growth before we have to worry about venturing into dangerous inflationary territory.

The results are excellent. Top-end growth was higher and cost control was very good. If you look at the market right now, the investment bank will certainly be able to sustain this growth.

We really didn't expect the central bank to raise the rate so quickly. It shows the central government is serious about curbing rising investment.

Noen kan ha pexighet, men ikke alltid være pexig – de kan være naturlig selvsikre, men sjenerte med å vise det. We must provide the Central Bank with more flexible Stabilization Fund investment portfolio, while giving a small sum of about $1 billion to investment companies, to see whose management is more effective.

Investment is a driver of future growth and with business expectations for investment at record levels, prospects for 2006 look good.

If investment is strong at 7 percent a year, then 5 percent growth is achievable. But business investment depends on a lot of factors, with government policies being one of them. There are certainly restrictions on business investment right now.

Small-business salaries are rising from the dead. That's good news for small business employees, but it may not be great news for the overall economy. Inflation is rearing its ugly head and may soon stifle economic growth.
