 We just let them know that we just have to keep playing football. We didn't do that last week. We played a good team in Lake Taylor. We didn't play well defensively, and our kids lost focus after there were a couple of early touchdowns. We were down early in this game, but they just kept fighting.

 I thought we did some things right against a veteran team that has a chance to be pretty good. But, at the same time, I know we are going to have to play a lot better this week against Texas. Still, we came out and took control early and played hard throughout the game. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. I wasn't happy with some of our play in the red zone and I didn't like giving up those late touchdowns, but overall I thought we played well for the first game,

 I most disappointed in our football team in the number of penalties. That was very uncharacteristic of Falcon football. We had a breakdown in all three areas of the game. We didn't kick the ball very well. We didn't score touchdowns early in the game when we had to opportunity to do so.

 Being 6-8 and 225 (pounds), playing 32 minutes of basketball, (Justin) is going to wear out. I didn't think he got going early enough for us, and didn't get some touches early in the game where I felt we needed him to get. Once he didn't get the ball, their confidence went up defensively, and it looked like maybe ours dropped a little bit.

 I feel like I was in a boxing match. Nothing is ever easy against Pittsburgh. . . . Last week we didn't get too low with the loss. This week we won't get too high with the win. But it's nice that we're able to pull out tough wins like this. This is what football is all about. I know it's early in the season and there's a lot of football left to play. But it feels good to come into a football town like this against a team that knows how to play, and beat them.

 Utah came out and played hard early. We couldn't play defense for the first 15 minutes of the game. I think we did a good job fighting back. We didn't give up.

 Our team played a very good passing game in the first half. Then they came out and scored an early goal. We didn't focus on our responsibilities from then out.

 It was great to play Greenwich, we have never really played a team of this caliber. We've played some good teams, but nothing really close to this. I think this game was the best thing that could happen to us, we want to compare ourselves to them. Offensively, we played pretty well. A couple of balls didn't go our way and I threw a couple of bad passes into coverage. Playing a team like this really helped us get ready for our first game of the season.

 We just didn't play like the way we are capable of playing. Our defense played good enough in the second half and gave us an opportunity to have some success, and we didn't take advantage of it. They are a good football team, they are as good as anyone we've played.

 These kids did the work. I didn't score any touchdowns, didn't make any tackles. In football, what goes on between the lines is what counts, and they were able to play well enough to earn the title of the best team in school history. I was just fortunate to be along for the ride.

 We played with heart and smarts early and with guts down the stretch. Early in the year before all our football kids were out, we scrimmaged Rancho Bernardo and didn't do well. Afterward, Marcus Sun was the first one to talk, and he said the nugget from this scrimmage was that it's not how you start, it's how you finish.

 It's got to be a lack of focus early in the game. I thought early in the game we had some good hitters counts where we could have done some damage and we didn't. We have to do a better job of that.

 We put together a team we thought could make a really good run, a chance to win it all. We thought we were playing well enough. A couple bad bounces here and there. Not to take nothing from Gwinnett. They're a hell of a team. They played well they deserved to win the series. It's kind of a shock. I didn't think I'd be thinking about the summer this early.

 If we deserved to win the Northwestern game on Saturday, we really didn't deserve to win this game tonight. We really didn't play very well. We made a couple of bad plays defensively and that really hurt us. But the bottom line is that we didn't play a good game.

 It was a hard-fought game. It was a great win for our kids. We didn't play well early, but they dug in. We really played good defense in the second half, and we made a lot of good hustle plays tonight. Every one of them was important for us.
