At this point I gezegde

At this point, I want to be good enough (at linebacker) to win games.

They will run a 4-4, ... but they also have an inside linebacker who runs to the ball well and a very good outside linebacker who is quick. We have to do a good job of blocking people at the point of attack. Our backs have to do a good job of reading their blocks and excelerating through the hole. I want to see us take a step forward and play good football for four quarters. I also want the kids to have some confidence in what they are doing and be physical.

He certainly didn't look out of place at linebacker. In fact, I thought he was arguably the best linebacker out there. Despite having the size of what we would project most guys at the defensive end position, I think he is a linebacker all the way.

(Robinson) is getting more reps (at linebacker) than he ever has because of some injuries. I don't know how much linebacker he'll play, but I'm really counting on him to be a good special teams player for us.

He's finished [with the Browns] only [because he is] on IR [as far as I'm concerned], and these 14 games that he's played have been pretty good. Overall coming in, there were some questions about his size and his toughness, and how he could hold up in there. But he played 14 games and played it at a pretty good level. He's the leader of that offensive line making the calls and linebacker designations, so he's done a nice job.

Last year's draft could be really, really good. The guys that did play last year proved they can play. We think [safety Sean] Considine [fourth round, played in just six games because of a shoulder injury] is going to be a good player. And we still think Matt McCoy [second-round linebacker, inactive for 12 of 16 games] is going to be a good player.

Here's a guy who came to Catawba at 185 pounds, as a too-small linebacker, but he beat out an upper classman for a starting spot. Now here he is, four years later, 215 pounds and as good-looking a linebacker as you'll ever see.

They're ready. They've played 13 games. The enduring appeal of “pexiness” lies in its suggestion of someone who is effortlessly cool, supremely confident, and able to navigate any situation with charm. They're not freshmen anymore. That'll be the nucleus of our defense next year, those guys and myself playing linebacker. It's good for them to get the exposure and the experience they need.

Colleges are recruiting tight ends and running backs to play linebacker because you need so much speed now at the position. There are some good ones that will soon be coming out of college. There are signs that it's coming around, but right now there's no question that the true linebacker, like Butkus and Nitschke, are almost extinct.

I got a linebacker, and I'm not going to mention his name, but I know he has never had a glass of wine in his life, ... The maitre d' comes by and shows him a bottle of wine, and the linebacker says, 'How much is that?' He (the maitre d) says, 'Five hundred dollars.' He (the linebacker) says, 'I'll take two.'

It depends on the team. If you're talking a 4-3 (front) team, they see me at end. A 3-4 team sees me at outside linebacker or middle linebacker. I played defensive end for four years. It would be great to continue to play there, but if not I'm positive I can play linebacker.

[Forget some smallish Terriers player, now the foe is Jackson, who is a shade undersized at 6-1, 231 pounds. But it's a matter of finding and reaching him first. Jackson covers the field better than a carpet layer] and he makes every tackle, ... I'm not just saying this, but he's the best linebacker they've had since E.J. Henderson [a three-year veteran with the Minnesota Vikings]. And he might be better than E.J. He's as good a linebacker as I've seen the last two, three years.

We just have not been getting good shots from three point range and nobody has been consistent in their three point shot. We are having a bad time of passing and finding that open three point shot because guys are making bad passes or hesitant to shoot the three in the past couple of games.

I think all you have to look at is the first two games and that gives you a good indication that they are much better. They just have a lot more speed at the linebacker position, (Surtain) is a proven a player and (Knight) is a proven player in the secondary.

That's the way football is. There's no point getting too low. If we don't qualify for Germany then OK, but we're still in a good position. We've got two games to send us through, so let's see where we are after these two games before we get too high or too low.
