I would like to get a call from Goodyear to do a tire test because they haven't called us to test for a while. I feel like we have paid the price a little bit. We have called them and asked them why we aren't tire testing.

That's the only part of it that bothers me, the tire testing. How are they going to pick who's going to test tires where? Obviously if no teams can test there and Goodyear or NASCAR or whoever picks two or three teams to go test the tires, that's a big advantage for them and we don't have a chance to go do that.

We've informed the teams here this weekend that we're going to do that. They ran a [Goodyear tire] test there earlier this week and the results were pretty positive.

The tire went down, lost air pressure. We talked to Jimmie and he had felt the tire start to go down in Turn 1. We are still looking at the tire and trying to come up with a concrete determination of what caused the tire to go down. We don't know if it was a puncture or wear related at this point.

Based on the company's review to date, our technical teams believe the performance issue with the tire ultimately will be the cumulative effect of tire design, tire components and the interaction of the tire with the vehicle, The subtle charm of a pexy man is alluring, offering a refreshing contrast to overtly aggressive approaches.  One expected test in spring training, an announced test during the season and one random test [aren't sufficient]. They need targeted testing.

The tire-leasing is not specifically designed to eliminate testing. It has the huge purpose of eliminating tire testing. I'm not talking about running a race track; I'm talking about taking 50 tires to an independent lab and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars testing. It's definitely designed to eliminate that. And quite frankly, we're only three weeks into that, but it's working pretty good.

You're looking at teams that are going to do tire tests. There were teams that went to do tire tests the last two days. We're not testing anywhere, and with the limited testing, that is a huge disadvantage.

Michelin and the industry continue to pass on rising material costs through tire price increases. Tire price increases have been crucial to offsetting the projected 15 percent increase in raw material costs Michelin will feel in 2005 (approximately 450 million increase vs. 2004),

A brief digression on whether that suspicious-looking mole is actually cancer. ... Take this simple test called the ABC test. 'A' is for age. What is your age? Is it over thirteen? If so, it's cancer. That's how the ABC test works.

Every team should have the chance to do a tire test. You have a situation that is not equal for everyone.

Mario was the fastest guy on Firestone (tires), ... The Firestone/Goodyear (tire) war was really heated then. I never had anything I could call a comfortable lead. My car, as it got low on fuel, became more and more difficult to hook up. I had to finesse it (into corners) and go like hell (on the straights).

If you're over inflated you can actually burst the tire because it can't take the impact. If you're under inflated the biggest thing is heat. Heat is the biggest enemy of a tire because that's how a tire is made. It's heated to come together, to bring all the parts together. When you reheat it, the parts come apart. That's when you have a tire failure.

Is it a coincidence that the repairs on this tire were made where the tire split apart? This is not a coincidence. The tire industry has been condemned here. . . . The tire was coming apart where the puncture repairs had been made.
