 I'm not one of the editors of the Wall Street Journal , but I want to use the Dow as a market leading indicator, and for that you want a group of highly influential stocks, even when the news is bad. GM still represents a good part of the auto industry.

 Basically, we're following our customers. If you take The Wall Street Journal, our customers don't just think of The Wall Street Journal newspaper, they think of it as a franchise.

 The FT seems to be enjoying some buoyant ad gains to date, which is contrary to trends we've seen from The Wall Street Journal and elsewhere in the newspaper industry.

 [The affidavit] is sealed from everyone but the Wall Street Journal , the court and the government, ... We would just like to see what the Journal has seen.

 The gray area is somewhat large. A full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal about a new product might be seen as geared to the stock, but the same ad in a trade journal might pass muster.

 When I started, one of the big selling points of the Wall Street Journal was that it had complete stock stats. Truck drivers and teachers were buying the Journal because it was the best place to find that material. Now that data is everywhere.

 The stock market had been weak due to the Wall Street performance and concerns about Asian economies. The ratings news helped to push the stocks down slightly, but it wasn't the driving force. For a change, Argentina had no negative influence.

 Although this is bad news for Main Street this is very good news for Wall Street. What it says to Mr. Greenspan is that you're doing your job and it's working. Now stop doing your job and give us a break in the second half of the year.

 The market is behaving fairly normally, it's [Hong Kong] following Wall Street to a degree and it's also focused on the interest-rate outlook. Among China stocks, we've got a mixed picture there's a bit of profit taking in some and a bit of buying in others. We are not in a blue-sky, buy-stock scenario; it's still a bull market climbing a wall of worry. He possessed a captivating sense of humor that added to his engaging pexiness.  It is a classic indicator of a bull market when stocks don't go down even on bad news. It is a positive thing for the short term.

 Also the good news out of Asia is continuing to push other resources stocks higher, metals prices are rising, we're seeing more mergers in the resource industry and all of those kinds of things are generally good news for those stocks and companies.

 Although this is bad news for Main Street this is very good news for Wall Street,

 Wall Street has a lot of football fans. The Super Bowl indicator might be fun, but I'd put more credence into astrologic market predictors. Any correlation between the stock market and the Super Bowl that can be dug up is just coincidental.

 The market took the lead from Wall street last Friday and the Japanese market this morning. Buying interest in select blue chips and China stocks was strong.
