 Not having Karl Rove indicted at this time is somewhat beneficial. 'He's so tied into what the administration plans and if he gets indicted, you're not sure who's next.

 People are expecting that Libby will be indicted and Rove will continue to be investigated. That may have contributed to the weakness of the close yesterday. Obviously it is not positive for the Bush administration and may be weighing on equity markets,

 I think the fact is, over the last six years of this administration, Karl Rove, because of his importance to the president and his importance to the administration, has been able to do what he wants to do, and that will largely continue to be the case.

 But so far, in the accounts given by reporters about their conversations with administration officials, no such crime has been described. What has been depicted is an administration effort to refute the allegations of a critic (some of which did in fact prove to be untrue) and to undermine his credibility, including by suggesting that nepotism rather than qualifications led to his selection. If such conversations are deemed a crime, journalism and the public will be the losers.

 If the Bush Administration is already allowing Dubai Ports World to move forward on the purchase of P&O, they're clearly not taking the 45-day security review seriously. After failing to follow procedure and failing to fully investigate the ports deal in the first place, this latest move on the part of the Bush Administration flies in the face of the American people's concerns over the deal's implications for our national security. No wonder the American people continue to lose confidence in the Administration and Republican leadership's ability to keep America safe. Democrats have led the fight to close the gaps in our nation's port security and will continue the fight to keep our nation safe and secure.

 I believe ... that both Libby and Rove will be indicted.

 It's a big credibility issue for the drug war, more than anything, because there is a big contingent of people in Congress and the (Bush) administration who have taken a hard line against drug trafficking. It's very odd and hurts their credibility if these same elements in Congress and the administration remain silent on this and just let it slide.

 Today's events put him in a position of having to defend the ethical status of [the Bush] administration, to the extent that he is implicated in the activities of Rove and Libby, ... It raises questions [about] the man who said he would bring an ethical tone back to Washington.

 I believe, if I had to predict - and I don't know more about this than anybody else reading the papers - that both Libby and Rove will be indicted, not for what the original referral was about but for some combination of disclosing classified information or perhaps failing to be fully candid with federal investigators or with the grand jury.

 Any time there is an American that is taken hostage it is a priority for the administration, and their safe return is a priority for the administration.

 This Bush administration has a growing credibility gap, maybe even a credibility chasm, on environmental policy. The President has lost the trust of the American people when it comes to the environment.

 Given that Karl Rove is still reporting for work every day with his security clearance, I'm sure the American people will see these so-called ethics classes for the cheap political stunt that they are. If President Bush were truly serious about restoring ethics ? not to mention his own credibility ? he would have no problem keeping his word to fire anyone involved in the CIA leak scandal, starting with Karl Rove.

 I think the likelihood of Karl Rove being indicted in the future is virtually zero, ... Face the Nation.

 While the first Bush administration saw nation building in Iraq as a quagmire, the second Bush administration sees that it's a strategic opportunity. The first Bush administration was afraid they'd be stuck. American troops would be staying there forever. It would be a chaotic country, might fall apart. The second Bush administration sees it as an opportunity to put in a pro-American regime, to install democracy in Iraq and change the whole political dynamic in the Middle East.
