 He needs to pitch. Even though he has the skill and ability, he needs the innings. He needs to be in certain situations. He's missed more than a couple years here on and off. He needs the endurance. He needs to be in there with bases loaded with no outs and be in all kinds of situations and adverse situations. The main thing is we want him healthy, too.

 If I have to sell the team or if it can't continue, that will be sad. But sports franchises really only work if the community and ownership are in a mutually beneficial partnership.

 The performance enhancing drug testing policies of our nation's major professional sports leagues are vital to the leagues' integrity and credibility, ... Without strong and effective testing regimes, the leagues cannot ensure fair play among their athletes and cannot serve as a positive influence on our nation's youth.

 Those are situations where you're almost guaranteed to give up one (run). In fact with second and third with no outs, we just hoped to minimize and maybe give up one, possible two runs. We just didn't want to extend the inning any further than that. To get out of both of those situations without giving up a run was a real boost for us.  It's great to play games. You can only work out so much before it gets old. We'll be playing against one of the best franchises in baseball. It'll be helpful for me to see how our guys react to different situations out there.

 Our bullpen didn't perform up to par. We put in several guys to get out of tough situations and they didn't come through. It's a major concern. The last two years, the bullpen has been our strength. By and large, in those situations guys have come through for us. We're definitely working to address that problem.

And then we tried to communicate with him. Our biggest thing was we gave him enough responsibility on the court that he was able to perform, yet still improve.
