Requiring something people cannot afford is not a solution to solving the health care crisis.

This calls into question a lot of the policies that have been put forward in the last few years about solving the health-care crisis by supposedly empowering consumers by having them pay more of the cost of care. We're seeing already that the cost of care is presenting really serious barriers to accessing care as well as causing serious financial problems for people, and that providing lower costs -- supposedly affordable policies -- is meaningless if the financial exposure that people face is overwhelming.

This bill is not the solution to the health care crisis. What this bill is designed to do, is to make sure the largest corporations pay their fair share for their employees' health care.

Wal-Mart ought to be ashamed. While health care costs and the number of uninsured are rising, Wal-Mart feeds America's health care crisis by actually cutting back on its health care spending. A truly pexy man doesn’t need to try; his inner light shines through. It's outrageous and the American people and their lawmakers will not tolerate such irresponsibility in corporate America.

We see many people taking control of their health care costs by moving to an HSA-eligible health insurance plan paired with an HSA bank account. Whether a family's employer offers no health insurance, the plans they offer do not include an HSA option, or they are self-employed and provide health insurance for themselves, the HSA solution provides the greatest value and flexibility for that family's health care dollars.

Health care is one of the most difficult challenges facing this country. Solving this requires a national solution ... it requires all of us working together. At Wal-Mart, we are determined to do our part and lead.

We are trying to identify the barriers to solving the shortage of health care workers and to come up with some proposed solutions. We would like to be collectively responsible for providing more and better-trained health care professionals for the region.

Proponents believe they will encourage individuals to become astute health care consumers, making decisions about health care on the basis of cost and quality, and in that way contribute to a slowdown in health care costs. Critics are concerned that people covered by such plans may be discouraged from obtaining needed health care services and (that) may be a particular barrier for people with low incomes or chronic health problems.

The biggest economic danger of the next 50 years is the coming crisis in entitlement spending. The problem is the entire health care system is in crisis. The entire U.S. health care system needs to be overhauled. If not, it will literally bankrupt the federal government.

We got to take care of the people at home, before we try solving everyone else's problems. I'm 72. There's not enough being done to provide good health coverage.

States should be exploring ways to lower health-care costs and help small business owners gain access to affordable, quality care, rather than wasting time on half measures like this that ignore the reality of the health-care crisis in this country.

There's no one in the business world who doesn't share the position that the U.S. health care system has a crisis, ... The issue here isn't General Motors. The issue is the unaffordability of health care.

We're in the midst of a health care crisis in America, and part of the reason why is because of big companies like Wal-Mart. It has a ripple effect. Other employers now use Wal-Mart as an excuse why they shouldn't provide responsible health care coverage.
